Ho,
I've been reading diconnected info here and there, but couldn0t manage to understand clearly what to do. I hope somebody can explain in little detail the steps to follow to do this.
I have a DVD with a movie in VTS_01_1 to VTS_01_4 and 3 extras in VTS_02_1 and VTS_02_2. Now I would like to understand how can I extract some (or all) of the extras but keeping a working structure.
I understand I must run IfoEdit and strip the extras using 'VOB Extras' and unchecking the ones I don't want. Here's what I find:

a) Unchecking all the extras (so I want to be left with no extras)
IfoEdit complains about Navigation packets not being found... is that right?

b) If I simply check one out of the three extras, then IfoEdit runs through the process and recreates the VTS_02_0.IFO file and creates a new VTS_02_1.VOB smaller than the original one. Notice that in the original rip I had also a VTS_02_2.VOB, but since I ripped so many things, this no longer exists.

Well, assuming in most interested in case b), how do I proceeed? Do i have to run IfoUpdate or something? Acooriding to the 'basic IfoEdit Guide' in doom9 there's no need for that. So i didn't do it, copied the new VTS_02_*.IFO and .BUP and .VOB to the original directory, tried to burn that in Nero but failed at the checking stage. Nero complained that some files related to VTS_02 were missing...
Somehow I have the impression that IfoEdit fixed my VTS_02_0.IFO but not the general structure in VIDEO_TS.IFO, and so the whole projec was inconsistent for Nero. I tried to burn with RecordMax and failed also, so I'm sure there's something fishy going on...
SO what do I have to do to fix the main structure of the DVD with ripped stuff? Do I have to press 'Get VT sectors' in IfoEdit once the VTS_02_0.IFO file has been processed? Do I have to run ifoupdate at the end? BTW, i tried ifoupdate several times and I keep getting a 'runtime error 76' before it crashes...

yes yes... I'm in a mess. And please notice that I've read parts of several guides which d tell you how to do specific things but do not teach you the whole story (although they are great).

Fmazzanti,

If I understood you correctly, you don't want your keep extras (aka bonus materials). Just disable your Bonus Materials button in your main menu and when you succeeded, you can safely delete your VTS_02_* files. You can do it the IFOedit way or you can use a new freeware called MenuEdit to disable that button. Do a forum search for MenuEdit for download link.

@2COOL,
I've already used MenuEdit, which is simply wonderful.
That said, could you elaborate a little on the ifoedit/ifoupdate way? Sometimes I want to keep one or two extras, and then the removing button doens't work.
BTW, if i simply delete the vobs and kill the buttons, are you sure the remaining structure works for Nero? I've done some many tests that I can not remember anymore what worked and what didn't work...

What do you mean? Your DVD doesn't work or your button doesn't work?

You can delete only your VTS_02_*.VOBs leaving your IFO and BUP or you can delete it all. If Nero gives you reallocation errors, burn with Imgtools 0.99.* with reallocation opton unchecked. It uses Nero's API. It works for me.

My sentence was not vclear clear... me guilty. Sorry, english is not my mother language and that causes me troubles sometimes.
In any case, what i wanted to say is that if I want to keep one or more extras, I can not delete the extras button 'cause then I won't be able to reach the 'extras menu' in the first place. But then I could keep that button and simply erase the buttons in the 'extras menu' associated to the extras that are not there anymore... And that's what I actually tried to do in one of my tests, but then it happened what I said in my original post: after ifoeditting the corresponding .IFO, I ended up with a VTS_02_1.VOB and no VTS_02_2.VOB, and Nero then complained and couldn't burn the DVD-RW.
In summary, however, what you say is I should go through two steps:
a) kill the buttons corresponding to the extras I want to strip out.
b) delete the vobs and ifos corresponding to the extras stuff if I don't want to keep any extras.

Well I'll do it. However I'd like to understand the ifoedit way of doing things because sometimes I've ran into more serious situations where the previous recipes do not work (I believe). For exemple, a Walt Disney DVD, where the navigation structure of the DVD is such that when you insert it on the player it firstly displays a legal warning, then a couple of trailers and then goes to the root menu. I've tried to remove the trailers and the warning but then the resulting project does not work anymore, it simply locks the player at the very beginning. I think that's because the player wants to go across a title (the warning, the trailers) that are no longer there, so the only way to proceed would be to fix things at the very VIDEO_VTS.IFO stage with ifoedit.... am I right? And once again, how should this be done?

Thanks and excuse me for putting so many questions...
