View Full Version : Software which can burn VOB's

I want to make mixed DVD's of music videos I own. I've used freeware to try to do this. I can get the VOBs to work with PowerDVD etc., and they are PERFECT. Does anyone know of any software I can buy which can take several VOBs, create new IfOs, and then burn the newly configured set of files to a DVD (any DVD format: +/-RW or +/-R -- I don't care which format since my Sony can handle all of them) without converting to mpeg or mpeg2 first (because I can see that the VOBs lose quality when encoded to other formats)? I've tried lots of demo software, but none that will accept VOB's.

The burning of a +R or -R is a burning function and how the images or files are made makes no difference.
You might try IFOEdit to create the IFO files.

Have had no success with IFOEDIT, and after many hours, would be willing to simply buy something that can create the IFOs and then burn without all the hassle.

When you are ripping the vobs from various DVD's demux them and re-author with dvd maestro. Real easy and avoids any need for re-compression.

Tried the demuxing route already. Half the time I would have audio-video synchronization problems after remuxing. Would rather buy something that can handle the imaging and burning of the VOBs, so if you have any software recommendations for that, I'd appreciate it.

What were you re-authoring with?
Were you demuxing with DVD Decrypter?

I've never seen or heard of a DVD authoring program that just uses VOB files for input. They all tend to use elementary video and audio streams, or some used mpeg2 program streams.
What tool did you use for demuxing? Try vobedit...also make sure you select the box that says demux the entire title set. I've done this and I don't end up with sync problems.

Used DVDDecrypter and SmartRipper. Both produce sync or ripping problems at times.
Maybe I'm not following your suggestion. Whenever I demux, I end up with an m2v file, which is mpeg2 and has a lower quality of video than the vobs. What file type do you end up with?

When demuxing the resulting .m2v file should be of identical quality to the source .vob file.

That doesn't make sense. Think of a VOB file as a ZIP file. It contains the mpeg2 stream and AC3 streams. When you demux, you're just splitting it up into its component pieces. There should be no difference between the mpeg2 stream and the VOB file's mpeg2 stream.
Unless the player you use for mpeg2 is messed up...do you use the same player for VOB and mpeg2 files?
In DVD Decryptor, I use IFO mode, and select one PGC at a time. Then i tell it to demux the video and ac3 files one at a time. Sometimes the audio file will have a delay associated with it. Use AC3Delay Corrector to fix the delay and then they'll always be in sync with your mpeg2 video stream.

Daveburns,
I can not find any software that allow you to copy VOB2VOB.
I'm using the latest version of NeroVision Express. If copying to DVD,it is going to be mpeg2.And it will take VOB files.
1.Rip the chapters that you want using DVDdecrypter to HD.
2.Open NeroVision Express,choose copy to DVD-disc.
3.Now you can add the chapters(VOB files) from the HD.
NeroVision Express can make the menu of your chapters. With the dvd player remote, you can select any chapter that you want it to play(after you burn all VOB's to dvd and throw it into your player, of couse!)Heh!Heh!
The latest version of NeroVision Express had fixed the problem with audio.

To generate IFO from VOBs, just use IfoEdit
Name your VOBS VTS_01_01.VOB, VTS_02_01.VOB, etc.. and put them into an empty dir
Launch Ifoedit, click "Creates IFOs", choose dir, that's all
Once done, open one of the IFO generate, and do a GET VTS sector just to be sure (it should be already ok, but... sometimes...)
Burn with ImgTool+Nero
