Hi
I used instantcopy then pdi2iso and then isobuster to extract the videots folder and add an audiots folder manually but the DVD was malfunctioning in menus, so i proved pdixtract and the DVDs i've done play succesfully on powerdvd, i'll burn and report becasue it could be the best method avoiding false bugs produced by intermediate programs...:D

Ok I burned and proved both of them and the menus play great, every option is running as the original, i only can complain about the image quality because it's not what they say, its worst than dvd2one, ive done almost 15 with dvd2one and i can compare carefully so this are my conclusions:

instantcopy good for 1:1 but worst image quality and 6 time more time consuming plus the pdixtract process!

dvd2one good for onlymovie DVD without menus, better image quality and an incredibly little processing time directly to gearpro!

Anyway if you're tired of cce/ifoedit and other authoring time consuming ways of doing it you can choose one or both of them depending on your demands, i'll use dvd2one when the DVD has only the movie and written info as bios and filmos so its not necessary to copy this things, and instant when the menu is complex and has more than 3 sections of extras, you know making ofs, cuts, deleted scenes, etc.
Keep trying and report anything please...

Please report more detailed settings, there are many ways to make both Instant Copy and DVD2One deliver bad video quality, help people make educated decisions by providing the settings you used (50%, no languages, all languages, unselected everything but movie), and the specific quality issues you observed (banding, pixelation, menus broken, etc.)

If you got InstantCopy to do the movie only in the majority of cases the quality will be better than DVD2One

for example try using the new DVD2One and only allowing 3.37Gb for the film so you can still have 1Gb for menus and extras as that's what InstantCopy has to work with

then tell me which has the better quality and have fun rebuilding it too with working menus (more work)

or strip the video & audio files out of the main movie file IstantCopy has produced to get the size (or use a bitrate calculator to get size), and then allocate that amount of space to DVD2One and then compare results

as int 21h has said it all depends on what you have done to the original and with what settings

:D

Yes i know that it depends but i was talking generally, i mean, obviously instantcopy has less space to compress because of the menus and extras but we're talking about the two programs working apart so it can be unsderstood...

I think dvd2one is the less buggy program of them, we all know that for the compatibility with almost all the pcs out there, so the only problem with it is you have no menus and no extras but you gain image quality and speed processing, obvioulsy.

And about instantcopy i've had two freezes but tried again in another partition wxp and it worked! The only problem was the image quality and that's why i posted my results, and everybody knows it's because the program processes the entire DVD, the thing i didn't write is that i worked with the demo version unmodified, it means,i use dvddecrypter and just open my source/destination directories and push ok because i think if i modify anything it's not a 1:1 DVD copy anymore! Or is it? We're talking about 1:1!!!

So please interpret the results as they are and don't pretend to add more complexity to my words, it's a begginer's post from a tester perspective with basic knowledge about the programs and experienced on DVD authoring old methods, i think many of us have tried them yet and that's why we're looking for a better one.

By the way i processed:

PULP HITS PAL
TORRENTE PAL

And everyone is ok except for the bad image quality on every extra and movie!

is pulp hits very good video quality in the original m8?
as i tried region 1 malcolm in the middle disc 1 and the original wasn't the best quality i have seen on a tv series dvd and when converted this too looked sh!te.

but i did WW2 in colour and copy was flawless???
and crime inc. doco dvd was excellent too.

as they say garbage in garbage out.
