View Full Version : New dlls for vcdimager.exe: causes new bug?

This is going to be the subject of my research tonight.

I upgraded from 1.1.0 to 1.1.2.

My first back-up with the latest version causes this problem--which is minor.

I mounted the images using DaemonTools and previewed with WinDVD. The mounted "virtual" disc plays fine (including title and change CD pics). The CDRs are the same as usual.

Now I burn using Nero and "CD copy", a method I have used for a very long time. The created CDs, when played in my DVD standalone now won't play the title and change CD pics. At the beginning of the disc, I get an empty blue screen for the usual duration of the title pic. The main movie MPEG then just starts from there. At the end of the disc, the last frame of the movie just freezes at that point and there is no change CD pic.

I notice that in the VCDimager folder, the dlls cygwin1.dll and cygz.dll are new. In fact they are different from both the dlls in previous versions of DVD2SVCD and differ from those included with VCDEasy v114. I wonder if this is the source of the problem?

Tonight I plan just to use the old VCDImager folder included with DVD2SVCD v110 in conjunction with DVD2SVCD v112 and see if that solves the problem. I will also test executing the XML file from within VCDeasy using the VCDxBuild feature with that GUI.

Anyone else with this problem?

I will try to report back tomorrow.

Well, the problem is not with VCDImager dlls.

After using the old dlls and also using VCDEasy to execute the XML file, I still had the same problem. DaemonTools mounted bin/cuesplayed fine in WinDVD but when copying the mounted CD image to a CDR using Nero (again, the way I've always done it), the Title and ChangeCD pics fail.

So, I then made my own MPEGS using the same source Bitmap file but creating them with MjpegTools 1.6.0 a utility found with VCDEasy versions and renamed copies "titlepicture.bmp.mpg", "changecdpicture.bmp.mpg" etc and ran crash recovery from the SVCD Authoring stage....

Voila, this time, with the VCDEasy/MjpegTools 1.6.0 generated MPEG stills the disc played fine in the standalone.

Therefore, the problem lays somewhere in the CCE AVS generated mpv file OR the "bbMPEG Titlepicture Settings.ini" muxing.

I hope someone picks up on this as I really enjoy having Title, Change CD and Last CD pics. I would prefer not having to go back to the previous version I used (v 1.1.0 build 1c)

Sincerely
:)

This the script of the "TitlePicture.bmp.avs" file

LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\Video\DVD2SV~1\AVISYN~2.DLL")
Blackness(2)
AssumeFPS(29.970)
ConvertToYUY2
BicubicResize(332,474)
AvisynthBMP_Loader("D:\Movies\Hunchback\Video","TitlePicture.bmp")
BicubicResize(332,476)
AddBorders(186,2,186,2)
BicubicResize(480,480)
ResampleAudio(44100)

Attached is a text file of "bbMPEG Titlepicture Settings.ini"

Don't know why this should happen. I haven't touch anything in that area in a very long time. And I gotta say, if you can see the stills when using DaemonTools + WinDVD then the problem is not with the images generated with d2s. My guess is that you had a bad batch of CD-R's.

Tried with various CDRs, CDRWs all with the same result. I've been using the same batch of CDRs for a long time. The ITEM0001.mpg and ITEM0002.MPG appears on the SVCD.

The MPEG still was only difference. The only factor to make it work was to make my own MPEG stills with VCDEasy using the same source BMP file.

Maybe it was a fluke. I'll try again using a different DVD, BMP altogether.

I'll report back later.

Thanks for everything.

Sorry, but I don't consider this a bug. If it plays using Daemon Tools + WinDVD I don't see this as a bug. But, try looking in the CDImage tab. See if the PBC option has changed from what you used to use.
