when i encode with divx503 using 1pass quality based, quantizer 2, psyvis3, gmc, bidi, all i get is a completely green movie. for 40min the resulting avi is about 2Mb in size. i can play it, but its only a green screen. what could be the cause for this?

what's the video source? might be corrupt capture or frameserve problem

the source is a xvid tv episode which is crappy slow. thats why i want to reencode it to divx. it plays fine in vdub (meaning it shows more than a green screen). no frameserving involved.

hmmm, what filters are you using for the XviD?
i've found the ffd show filters to be the best (it contianed in the Binkys Usual Suspect Codec Pack (http://www.fighter.orcon.net.nz/Binkys%20Usual%20Suspects%20Codec%20Pack.rar) which i've made since people keep asking me "what codec does this use?" so far its working:p

Aside from that, all my XviD recodes were two pass, but that shouldnt be the problem.
I know that a green screen results from filter loss, incorrect filters, etc, so i think that may be it...

Hmmm...I also had this problem with Spiderman. I frameserved it with AviSynth 2.0.7 and it worked fine with any movie but Spiderman. The final file size is just 19.9MB for the whole movie. I used two-pass encoding with DivX Pro 5.0.3. The movie source is an M2V format. I still couldn't find the reason but I suspect that it might be something to do with an M2V format because the rest of movies I encoded were in a VOB format.
