Will this give me a pretty good quality audio file?
After searching and reading FAQs, I still don't understand the Azid "-L -3db" parameter. Some explanations please. Maybe also the "-l" parameter.
C:\divxtools\besweet\besweet.exe
-core( -input "english.AC3" -output "english.mp3"
-logfile "english.log" )
-ota( -hybridgain )
-azid( -c normal -a -L -3db -F wav24)
-lame( --preset standard )

If I were you, I would output to wave file first, and then use a high quality mp3 encoder rather than having besweet do it.

I use the Fraunhofer-Thomson(sp?) compression scheme(which according to many is the best out there) - I'm not sure what BeSweet uses... Maybe BeSweet's is a better quality. I just know that the other way I get what I want, and with BeSweet I haven't tested it. Thanks for defending your program though - and thanks for the work you've done on it. I use it all the time for ac3 decoding, but I never go from ac3 to mp3, so I'd just be taking your word for it.

BeSweet uses LAME which has the best VBR engine. Also with BeSweet you may use the highly tuned --alt-presets. So please don't state something you don't know is worse than the one you do know.

Disregard this if I'm totally wrong, but I didn't think that LAME was tuned for 48KHz. Everyone used to tell me to use Fraunhofer for anything other than 44.1KHz. I write this hoping that I'm incorrect, as I do prefer LAME for ripping CDs. It'd be good news to know that I can trust it with DVDs, too.

afaik, it's old history you're talking about. lame is now tuned for 48khz.
anyway, if you still feel like encoding @ 44.1khz, you can tell BeSweet to downsample the signal to 44.1khz before encoding (check the SSRC screen in BeSweetGUI).
