I use VirtualDubMod 1.4.13.1
Getting exactly the same error while attempting a comp.test,

[Error] File "vdenc.log" not found

It's worth mentioning that the test encoding runs smoothly, and a playable divxenc.avi file is created in \tmp directory.

This is the latest bugfix/cvs release, you need to replace your original .exe with this one.
