I did a search in this forum for "DVD-PRO" and got mixed results. Many people slam them, many say they are great.

I am a Ritek fan. I have bought 400 so far.

I got 2 DVD-PRO disc in a sample pack. Burned at 2X in my A04 with 1.40 firmware. Played perfect in both my DVD players. Ran "Nero CDspeed" test on them in my high speed Lite-on DVD-ROM drive. This is a 8.5X reader and is very picky about media at 6X and up. Crappy media fails really bad at 7-8X speeds. I compared the graphs against my Ritek G03's burned at 2X. I would say the DVD-PRO's where better, although it's hard to base data on 2 samples.

White top, light purple dye.

I ordered 100 at $65 with free shipping. Super-cheap...yes. Crap...don't know. Did PRINCO increase their quality, or was it always good....don't know, can't tell by this forum.

IF YOU HAVE BOUGHT DVD-PRO DISC IN THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS, PLEASE REPLY WITH YOUR RESULTS!!!!!!!

I don't think I'll ever spend the time trying DVDPRO again. Sometimes when you earn a trashed reputation, it sticks with you forever. That's why so many companies change their name.

I received my 100 pack 0f DVDPRO. I've burned 4 so far, 2 at 2X and 2 at 1X. All have burned perfect and play back perfect on my 2 stand alone players. Not a sign of pixelization. Even the 2X graph nice straight lines on "Nero CDspeed" test.

I'm still evaluating them, but so far they are working well.

I think the biggest reason people stay away from the DVDPRO (Princo) is there reputation for turning into crap (won't play) after 6 months. I haven't read about anybody having a problem with Ritek's after 6 months.

Hmmm ... I just posted something about DVD-Pro media: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48689

My first backups are only about 3 months old, so I can't say much personally about the longevity of DVD-Pro. I was happy with DVD-Pro until the incident I described in my post -- I've authored about 75 discs -- but now I'm somewhat apprehensive. On some discs I've noticed occlusions and little irregularities on the write side. A little disconcerting but these malformations haven't affected playback -- yet.

BTW, what utility did you use to get the mfg's name off your media?
