i have the movie THE RING in xvid stream i guess and i have downloaded the subtitles for it???
Is there a guide too add permanently subs too it??

I don't think there's a guide for your specific problem. You should look at the general XviD encoding guide, since you're going to reencode the video. You will just have to use AVISource in your AviSynth script for loading the avi instead of mpeg2dec.

But why would you want to reencode if you have the movie and softsubs. Just install DVobSub, name your subtitles the same as your movie and be happy ;)

yes, DirectVobSub would be the best way.

if your sub happens to be in SRT format,
you may also want to mux it as so-called OGM,
without recompressing the video part (you can do that in a few mins)

if you really want to hardsub, how about full-installing VobSub so that "textsub", a subbing plugin for VirtualDub, will be copied?
I dont like this way tho, because you cannot do it without recompressing, and video quality will be damaged.

This board doesn't tolerate downloaded movies or subs or whatever.
U may discuss what U do with ur own dvds and nothing else please
