Hi forum,

first of all, let me say that I'm pretty newbie to IfoEdit, so maybe
I'm messing up things without noticing. However, I must say that
everything I know about this program comes from the guides, which tell
you how to do things without really understanding them (hey, that's my
personal opinion).

Well the fact is that this weekend I wanted to backup 'The Fly'
original version. Sadly enough, the whole DVD fills 4.39Gb, that is,
0.02 more than what I can fit in a DVD-R, thus forbidding a direct
DVD-5 to DVD-5 copy. However, since the difference is so small, I
thought I could get along by simply removing one audio track or one
extra. In this way, I first analyzed the structure of the DVD by
taking a look at the contents with DVD2AVI. As far as I could see, it
is something like this:

* VTS_VIDEO: couldn't check since DVD2AVI didn't display
anything. However I think there's general stuff in there...

* VTS_01_0: The same. Couldn't check with DVD2AVI

* VTS_01_1: VOB_ID 1/ CELL_ID 1 20th Century Fox logo
VOB_ID 2/ CELL_ID 1 Trailer 'The fly' original version
VOB_ID_3/ CELL_ID_1 Trailer 'The return of the fly'
VOB_ID_4/ CELL_ID_1 Trailer 'The fly II'
VOB_ID 5/ CELL_ID 1 Trailer 'KFantastic Voyage'

* VTS_02_0: VOB_ID 1/ CELL_ID 1 English menu
VOB_ID 2/ CELL_ID's 1-6 English Chapter Selection menu
VOB_ID 3/ CELL_ID 1 English Language selection menu
VOB_ID 4/ CELL_ID 1 English extra features menu

VOB_ID_5 - VOB_ID_8 The same in German

VOB_ID_9 - VOB_ID_12 The same in Spanish

* VTS_02_1 VOB_ID_1/ CELL_ID 1 Trailer 'The fly' 1989 version.

* VTS_02_2 - VTS_02_5 : Main movie

Well, first I did was to use IfoEdit to load VTS_02_0.IFO to dump the
german audio track. Everything went ok, it generated new VTS_02_*.VOB
files and .IFO and .BUP to a new directory. Then I copied the rest of
the files to that new directory and gave it a try with
PowerDVD. Everything worked fine but... the Trailer of 'The fly' 1989
version lost its audio track! Apart from that, no other problems...

Then i decided to start all over again, keeping the german track but
removing the 'The fly' 1989 version trailer from VTS_02. I did that
unchecking it under the VOB_ID streams to process in 'VOB Extras'
tab. Everything went ok once again, copied to the new folder the
remaining files and... failed again! This time, when sleecting that
same triler from the menu, the player stopped and erfused to play any
other title in the DVD.

So what could be happening here? Are there known issues with IFOEdit,
or it's me who's buggy ;) ? What woyuld be the right procedure (ste by
step please) to either remove the german tracks or the 'The fly' 1989
version trailer?

Thanks a lot for your help...

No help here.

That is right you are not supposed to select deleted parts in menu.
To correct menus look here:

Another way of fitting this movie to one disk (since it just slightly over the size of DVDV-5) is to just simply cut off end of the last movie vob-file and then run IfoEdit to correct vob-pointers.
