hi all,

i love meastro for its simplicity, however i still cant seem to get my subs being displayed ok.is there anyone here who can tell me exactly how to rip and import them ?

i tried ripping with subrip and then loading them into maestro, then loading the palette...but it seems nothing happens, its all screwed up, colors are not ok.

is there anyone who knows how to do this correctly ? or any guide that describes the trick ? cause im really getting nuts here with this.....

I suspect you'll have to be more specific. You using the latest version of Subrip? What settings? Exactly what happens?

I use Subrip 1.15, with the default Maestro problem, and it works fine for me. The only thing I've had to do manually is edit the .son file and change the 4th color contrast to 0, else it sets the entire frame to black for some reason (with the ST:TNG subs anyway)

What exactly are they supposed to look like? Hard to tell from that picture, since the background is so dark.

If you still can't get the subtitles to come out right, post the top part of the .son file SubRip created for you and I'll try to help (just post all the way through the palette entries, but not the details for the individual subs)

if the 4th color is at 15 then i have black outlines, but only a box of the picture can be seen....when i adjust it to 0 then i see the video, but i loose the outline.....

Well, basically color 0 is the background for the subtitle box, color 1 is the outline of the words, color 2 is the words, and color 3 is the background for the entire frame. Loading the palette loads the colors from the source that you ripped the subs from. Generally, you want the contrast of color 3 to be 0 so that you can actually see the frame. If you edit the .son and change:
"Contrast (0 15 15 15)"
to:
"Contrast (0 15 15 0)"
you'll be able to see everything fine. As far as there not being an outline, it is actually there, but since there isn't much contrast, it's not easy to see. You can change it around to whatever you'd like, but it should be fine if you just adjust the contrast line and re-import the subs.

If you really want the outline to be black, you can edit the palette and change color 9 to (0 0 0)

Just change "Contrast (0 15 15 15)" in the .son to "Contrast (0 15 15 0)", and reimport the subs - they should then be exactly the same as in the original movie.

The first pic is irrelevant, since subrip just uses random default colors to display them initially.

like i said that doesnt work......

i also dont get white text but gray....

anyway i figured it out, it was the size of the subs....subrip had it at 20x60 or something, i changed it to 720x576 and it worked.then changed the color in the .son and i got white text.

thanks anyway.
