hy!
i used koepi´s statsreader for a second-pass-external encode the first time today. here is the xda output. please tell me if you think the encoding is overkill, or quite right...i am not sure wheter i should have gone for 640*336?
visually it looks very fine, although the source is not of very good quality (dvd-"Pinero"). Grainyness of 16mm-shots is visible.
procedure: gknot as described in doom9´s guide, xvid options as described by iago, statsreader as described in statsreader-doc.
xvid version: koepi stable of 10/2002
compression-test in gknot was 69.9% at a resolution of 608*320
desired targetsize is 1241, 2vbr-mp3-streams are 72mb each (english, german). i subtracted ~7mb from that for the statsreader-value ( ;-) first time, you never know)
