Ok, I am very excited about the possibilities with these 2 programs, but the one problem I see is this.

If I want to use Makeiteasy to help me keep the menus and everything, it is hard to do with all of the Extras that are on DVDs. If I do not do anything to shrink the extras, you end up having 3-4 gigs of Extras and 1 gig of movie.

This leads me to the problem that I am having. I am backing up Dirty Dancing (it is my wifes.. no comments please :> ) and running into some problems.

Here is the basic format of the movie
VTS_01 - 3.7 Gigs (Movie itself)
VTS_02 - 1.1 Gigs (Extras she wants to keep)
VTS_03 - 2.7 Gigs (Live Concert, she wants to keep)

Ok, so reading through the Makeiteasy thread I found out that if you need to do extras that are not VTS_01, you simply need to do them by the following
Copy the VOBs over, Rename them to VTS_01, Pad Them, Create IFOs, DVD2ONE, Unpad, rename them back, Update the IFO

Well that worked great when I did VTS_03 (the Concert)

Now I am trying to shrink the VTS_02 a little bit and am having problems.

No matter what I do, DVD2One is not creating IFOs. Well, it is creating VIDEO_TS.IFO but not VTS_01.IFO (so I can not do anything when I get to the final Update Step)

I have tried copying over VTS_02, renaming it to 01 and continuing through the process.

I have tried copying over VTS_02 and then after IFOedit creates the IFOs, I have renamed the IFOs themselves to 02 and continued with the process

No matter what I do with this set, DVD2One is only creating the following files in the DEST directory
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB, etc..

No VTS_01_1.IFO at all... have tried it literally 8 times or more

Any help is appreciated if anyone has any ideas

Thanks

If you are making the VTS2 smaller then how come you have 2 VOB files for it after you do DVD2one? If it's 1.1GB to start with then you'd think you'd have a smaller sized vob after running DVD2One.

Are you doing enough padding of the original vob's?

It was just an example (since I am at work and do not have the files in front of me). It was actually just one 700meg VOB

Actually, now that I think about it.. I was right. It does create all of those VOBs. Remember, DVD2ONE creates 4.3 gigs of VOBs.. it is the unpadding the drops it back down to whatever size

The problem here is that for some reason it is not creating the .IFO files. The problem more than likely has to do with the way that either Makeiteasy or Ifoedit is preparing the source. Maybe the vob renaming procedure for extras does not work correctly all the time, now I am trying to find out why and what needs to be done
