I've searched the forum about this, but I can't seem to find anything.

It seems that there is a problem with using the DivX 5.02 codec to play movies encoded with 5.03. Mind you, I'm not entirely sure this is the case, but, I have a star trek episode on my HD that I can only watch if the 5.03 codec is installed. When I found that I couldn't use the 5.03 codec with gknot, I went back to the 5.02 codec to find that when I play the episode (in any player) that I can only get the audio to play back, and the video freezes on the first frame.

Has anyone else encountered this? Anyone know of a solution, other than switching to 5.03? I would really rather stay with 5.02.

I did see the threads relating to the 3.x codec and the 5.x codec, but I don't want to mess around with my registry until I know that it will work. I don't know anything about regisry editing.

I think ffdshow would help you there for decoding.
