Can somebody give me a hand a tell me what to do? At this point I don't know what to do.

Here take a look at my DVD structure:

VIDEO_TS.BUP

VIDEO_TS.IFO

VIDEO_TS.VOB <-Main Menu.

VTS_01_0.BUP

VTS_01_0.IFO

VTS_01_0.VOB <-FBI Warning, and Select A Scene Sub Menu.

VTS_01_1.VOB <-instead of it being beginning of the movie it's Character Profiles, Movie Trailer, Previews, Picture Gallery, and Behind the Scenes.

VTS_01_2.VOB <- some of the Behind the Scenes overlap here then begins the first main movie.

VTS_01_3.VOB <-First Movie Continues as normal.

VTS_01_4.VOB <-The First Movie Ends Mid way through the VOB and the Second Main Movie Begins

VTS_01_5.VOB <-The Second movie continues as normal.

VTS_01_6.VOB <-the Second Movie ends as Normal.

VTS_01_7.VOB <-500kb of black screen.

This is a Anime DVD with two Movies on it. I guess I should call them episodes.

OK the whole DVD is 6.11GB and my plan was to split it onto 2 DVD-r's. I removed VTS_01_5.VOB & VTS_01_6.VOB which brought it down to 4.11GB and burnt that to DVD-r and it worked great. The first move plays fine, All menus work. Plays in my PC, Stand alone, Xbox and PS2.

So I tried the same thing for Disc 2 by removing VTS_01_2.VOB & VTS_01_3.VOB and didn't work out very well. Main menu loads but doesn't work properly. I don't see why It doesn't work when the second movie doesn't even use VTS_01_2.VOB or VTS_01_3.VOB

At this point I don't really care about the damn menu. What should I do? Can somebody tell me what to do step by step? I'm not really good at using ifoedit. I can't even separate movie 1 and 2 from VTS_01_4.VOB.

You probably didn't do your DVD-9 to 2 DVD-5 Split procedure right. You're lucky you have all your episodes in one titleset and this should be a simple task. Are you sure you got the right cell for your split point between your episodes?

I can help you out but I also need help from you on telling me, in more precise details, on what you did. I've done a lot of successful splits and menu editing. Removing and splitting VOBs are two different tasks.

You're going about this all wrong. You can not simply remove vob files and get a working DVD, the ifo file must be modified to reflect any changes. Removing the end worked only because you didn't try to go beyond the first movie.

There are guides for removing titles, keeping only one title, and stripping by VobID, all of which could be used to accomplish what you want.

The VOB appear as files <1GB only for convenience in PCs, they are actually segments of one large file, indexed by the ifo. Take a chunk out of the middle and your pointers are so messed up not even Get_VTS_Sectors could straighten them out.

@mpucoder

Your right on target and saw exactly what it is that I tried doing. I knew it wasn't really the correct way of doing things.

I've cheated this way in the past and have gotten lucky. When I try to do it the correct way I always end up with DVD's that don't play on a stand alone. <sigh>

I stink at using ifoedit and my understanding of it is lacking. Don't think that I haven't read the guides I have but never got a firm grasp on things.

You guys are smart at this I can tell. I wish I could copy your knowledge and paste it to mine ;)

Don't feel so alone, the interface confuses the hell out of me. If not for the guides I'd be helpless myself. Not that I don't understand what is happening, or needs to happen, but what button makes it happen.

Still need a little help Please...

OK I took these past days to brush up on some reading. I re-read the ifo edit guide and got pretty far with it.

At first I let ifo edit chose the split point but it didn't do a very good job. It put 6.11GB on 1 Disc and 50mb on the other. I had to chose the split point myself but reading the ifo edit interface is like trying to read Greek to me. I fired up power DVD and saw that there were 8 chapters. I went back to ifo edit and located the section with 8 chapters and split it so that there would be 4 chapters on each disc.

I think the ifo edit guide might me a little old because ifo edit did most of the extra copying of ifo & menu files for me. Not to say that I'm complaining.

I checked both Disc1 folder and Disc2 folder with the built in ifo edit DVD player to check for compatibility. Disc1 folder played perfect but I got a error message with disc2 folder, which is good it told me something was wrong. So I analyzed it and saw that the menu VOB (VTS_01_0.VOB) was missing from disc2 folder so I coped that from the main movie folder and now runs without error message.

Everything is almost perfect but one thing is still wrong. In the "Select a Scene" menu, one of the Scenes point to the wrong chapter.

"Awaking" points to chapter 8 (wrong) it should point to chapter 5
"Bar Room" points to chapter 6 (correct)
"Boudoir" points to Chapter 7 (correct)
"End credits" points to chapter 8 (correct)

Is there anything a newbie such as myself can do to correct this? Chapter 5 does exist on the disc and Awaking should point to it. As it sits now Awaking points to the end credits.
