There are allegations in rec.video.desktop about the avisynth.org site logo that need looking into urgently by whoever admins the site.

I just need to communicate publicly that AviSynth at
http://www.avisynth.org have stolen my own custom logo artwork. You'd
think a commercial video engineering company would have a more integrity
than that.

We should contact Richard. The note on the bottom of the page suggests he already knew of the problem.
"commercial video engineering" - well - that's a stretch ;) Guess "opensource non-profit group" would be more fitting. I'll write him and get Richard to remove it ASAP!

@shOdan
I'd be VERY VERY careful in what you say to him.

Well - he can't sue me - let's just get this resolved quietly.
I mailed Richard.
I mailed Jeff.
I sent a followup in the newsgroup.

Thanks for the heads up! Website changed, and apology sent to Mr. Cook.
I like how someone deleted all the text off the front page -- classy. I've locked it down for now.

Assuming this blows over, back to business -- who wants to make us a logo of our own? :)

When we changed the name of DScaler we spent many happy months having a logo contest and discussing it.
I've learned I have absolutely NO talent for that sort of thing at all. ;)

Ditto, Tom. To quote Avery:
1.4.11 has a new icon as well, thanks to Spire. Actually, I touched it up a bit and removed the 256-color versions (although good looking, I couldn't bring myself to ship with a 10K icon), so don't blame him if you think it looks bad. To tell you the truth I rarely pay attention to the aesthetics of my program, because although many people appreciate open-source software, very few appreciate open-source art, because it generally looks ugly. Honing the "bad art skill" is very important for a professional career in software development because it lessens the chance of your company shipping a product with your programmer art, which is generally embarrassing.
I received a courteous reply to my apology, so hopefully this unglamorous episode is over. Onward with the logo contest!

@RB: Nice - I've reverted wiki to the previous state (with proper links) - see hakko's explanation in the sticky 'AviSynth FAQ' thread.
:readfaq: :D
Anyway - I'll see if I can persuade any of or graphicians (sp?) at work to do a nice logo. We could also arrange a "logo-battle" for the best logo/illustration. :)
New thread?
