a problem with smart deinterlace (or my ability to use it properly):
i encoded a vhs cap of my own private idaho with divx5.03. i used the default settings for smart deinterlace (frame-only,compare color, motion thresh15,scene change 100; 2.7 beta 2). a fraction of the frames did not get de-interlaced. only apparent during high motion scenes where i could see a frame messed up as often as every 1-2sec. when i used Vdub's deinterlacer (blend) these artefacts were gone.
other settings: 900kbits/sec encoding, bilinear resize 640x474 --> 496x368, light psych enhancements. also tried every combo of GMC & Bidirectional encoding and no resizing.
thanks for any insights...
