Theoretical question for IfoEdit users:

If VOB files in any given movie are correct, and in chronological order, can the VIDEO_TS.IFO other ifo files cause it to be played out of sync, or to loop? Are the PGS_PGC_1 files (where it has "entry point sector", "first ILVU VOBU end sector, etc. the cause of this looping?)
thanks.

In a word - yes. The vob files contain cells of video/audio/subpictures. Ifo files contain program chains (PGCs) which describe the order of play, and can present the cells in any order imaginable (although only sequential will be seamless), as well as loop and freeze (still).
But I don't know what PGS_PGC_1 refers to, PGCs are not files, but tables within the ifo.

Sorry, it was supposed to say VTS_PGC_1. So the cells/chapters have start/stop times, and lengths of play (by frames perhaps??). is there a way to ensure (or to double check) that the end of one cell (let's call it cell 1) is followed by 2, and so on? Where do I begin to edit the beginning/end times of each?

I'm convinced then that I have a problem with bad IFO files, since the VOBs are sequential, and will play in the order they're supposed to (on the pc), but once I create IFOs, and get VTS sectors, and try to play it on a settop that can play dvd-r, the ifo files create the equivalent of the chicken dance with my vob files.
