The latest round of changes to the SCC Tools suite is big enough for me to justify a major version change to 2.0. For the full list of changes (and to download the new version), point your browser at , but here is a list of the most important changes:
Added the tool VOBSUB2SCC, which I had informally released a week ago. This tool will take one of the files produced by VobSub and convert it into an SCC file. The version in this release fixes a number of bugs I found in the previous version.
Added the tool SUBRIP2SCC, which will convert a SubRip subtitle file into an SCC file. This functionality has been in high demand, and I can only hope it lives up to expectations (read the documentation for a full list of potential pitfalls).
Added ability to parse eXtended Data Service (XDS) and Interactive TeleVision (ITV) codes. These two services are used for broadcast purposes, but will probably have zero interest to DVD developers.
Added a page (http://www.geocities.com/mcpoodle43/SCC_TOOLS/DOCS/SCC_TOOLS.HTML) to the documentation to explain what closed captions, text mode, XDS and ITV actually are and how they work.
Added ability to assume the output file name based on the input file name for all tools (except CCADJ).
SCC2RAW now has the same argument order as the other tools: switches first, then the input file, then (optionally) the output file.
Special thanks go to Gabest for adding the caption-ripping functionality to VobSub and saving us all from hours of GraphEdit hell, to Michael H. Schimek and Iñaki García Etxebarria for posting the source code to their libzvbi library, which I used as my source for how Text Mode, XDS and ITV work, and to Zuggy and Brain for posting the source code to their tool SubRip, so I could be sure I completely covered nearly every feature of the SubRip format as of 1.15.

Have fun with the new tools and please let me know if you find a way to break one or more of them.

Dear McPoodle,

I'd like desperately to try your "magic" tools for converting the CC to subrip format that I can edit. But the links you provided doesn't lead me to where it's supposed to be. I can't find your tools anywhere on the internet either.
I really need your help!!
