Hi,
Sorry if this was explained before (and I guess it must be somewhere in a guide out there or in the forum) , but I can't find it.
I need to author a movie with Maestro. This movie has one english audio track (regular movie audio track) and one "directors commentaries" audio track I'd like to keep.
So I put each one on a different audio track in Maestro. No big deal so far
Now, for each of these, I want to have the corresponding French subtitle track. So I imported corresponding subs on two different subtitles tracks too, selecting Fr language for both.
Now how do I tell Maestro that subtitle track 1 (regular subs) must be displayed when audio track 1 (regular movie)is used, and that subtitle track 2 (director comments subs)must be displayed when audio track 2 (directors comments audio track) is used ?
Really sorry if this is an easy one, but really today I can't find anything.. Please point me to the information if you know where to get it.
thanks for your help.

if u have a button to select main audio u can configure it to autoselect main sub stream. U can find the tick boxes in the button's window.

Kalispera,
Thanks a lot for answering, Odysseus. Are you talking about a button in the original DVD menu ? What is this "tick box" you mention ? It seems you are talking about a self-made menu with buttons, created in Maestro, aren't you ? If so, it won't work since I didn't reauthor menus, I kept the original ones. Or is this "button window" something I can access in IFOEDit ?
Thanx for clarifying for a "brain dead zombie" like me :D

Good to read a greeting in my language.
Waldok I am reffering to the standard window Maestro uses to specify what u can do with a button. In it u can instruct Maestro to use a certain audio track and a certain sub one when u choose to press it.
If u r re-authoring the title it is very easy to specify which sub to play along with an audio. However if u r backing up a title this feature has to be included in the original ifo in order to work correctly, provided ofcourse that there already was a French sub track for the Director's Comments.
Why don't u try to insert a pre-command in ifo-edit that would force the usage of the correct sub? U can find a lot of info around about inserting a command in an ifo.
Does the original ifo has any such option? I mean does it display a subtitle when u r hearing the dir comments? If so just put your French subs in its place. The ifo would take care of the rest.
Hope I was of some help. I thought that u were re-authoring the title.

Thanks a lot Odysseus.
In fact, I am reauthoring the movie only, keeping all extras and menus as they were on the original DVD.
I'll have a look at the IFOEdit solution (but I'm afraid risks of messing everything are important when inserting precommands, am I wrong ?)
On the original DVD, once you select subtitles in the main menu, you atomatically get them during the directors commentary.
Maybe I should respect stream Ids and just recreate them in Maestro as they were in the original DVD, by inserting dummy streams so the French subs have the same ID as in the original ?

Since this behaviour is already implemented in the original ifo, all u have to do is recreate the stucture and put your subs in their original place.

That's where I failed. I didn't pay attention to the original stream Id of the subs.
Alright, the DVD is now burnt already, so I'll check this for next time. Now it's not a big pain in 'where it hurts' since I just have to manually select appropriate subs when I want to have directors comments.
Please allow me to phonetically thank you for your help in your language (no clue about the correct spelling though) :
efkaristo :)

Umm...is there a complete guide to ripping everything like your original question was stated...I was looking around and this is going to be my first time actually ripping a DVD, and what I plan to do is rip everything out, subtitles, commentaries, and make it into a VCD or maybe an SVCD considering SVCD's can have multiple tracks...could someone point me in the right direction, and some guide that has a through explanation from beginning to end, it would be very very helpful...in the meantime I will do some more research...
