New term begins tomorrow and i'm happy to tell you that we have started the program already :D
Somebody post the translation on our own forum first, then some people proofread them and last someone throw them on the server.
But now our bottleneck is the second and the third step... We have translated dozens of articles but overstock :(
Anyway, we'll solve the problem soon :)

It's a good idea to proof-read them, but if you haven't got time for it, it's even better to share the already translated guides immediately with the community, since a badly translated guide is better than no translated guide (for people who can't understand English at all).

By doing so, you avoid having translated guides lying around because no one has proof-read them... Spanish Doom9 did it like that from the beginning and there were times when I received so many guides that I did the same thing for German Doom9 (put them online without checking the spelling).

Don't get me wrong: You have to look at each document to check links and layout anyway, but when you compare each translation sentence by sentence this work becomes *really* time-consuming (I checked over 90% of the German intensively, the others have the remark "(no correction)" at the bottom.) Perhaps you'll have more participants in your forum to read those guides... but my approach (I am the only corrector of those guides) also has an advantage: If I correct the guides, terms like "encoding" are translated the same throughout the site.

We'll have mrly or netelephant as our coordinator, but... mrly has a project to accomplish in Mar. in his own job, while elephant is busy with his Ph.D candidate study... :rolleyes: in any case they'll soon come back with us.

Thanks very much for your suggestion, //bow~~ ^_^ I'll put the proofread documents to the site as soon as i can ;) In fact we have unified the translation of key words in our own forum at the very beginning :D I'm so glad to see that we did it in the correct way :p

:rolleyes: Urm... forgive my meddlesomeness but I really hope that all of you have received chocolates on the Valentine's Day... :p

@opal: Swamping someone with work can have two effects... either they run away screaming (obviously not good) or they get more motivated and dedicated (let's hope this is the case;)

And I didn't get any Chocolate on the 14th *snif*. But I bought myself a nice big pack of chocolate the day after to keep me happy while I'm studying ;)

Alright. It's good to see you guys progressing so fast. As you can see I adjusted my first post to reflect upon these changes. We have updated the pages you mentioned in letter include
right.htm by edit the static page.
But i think you use dynamic technic on your site, don't you?
Is it Jsp, Asp or Php? Do you use any database?
I gusee the answer is "yes":D
If the answer is "yes", can you give us a technical support
by offering the dynamic codes in your pages?

BTW, i find that you missed a letter "e" in the sources.htm:D

no, he doesn't use a database for the website... he mentioned that in some threads (forum search should help you if you need more information on that).

only the forum uses a database.

there's no dynamic code in the website except for some javascript things for the frameset which is built up when you link directly to a guide:

example: http://www.doom9.org/audio-guides.htm

instead of the guide, the whole page is displayed and the guide is loaded within the frameset.

as for the error you pointed out, it will be corrected when I upload the news for tomorrow.
And there seems to be a problem with your overview page.. the link http://www.opalstudio.net/video/dcc.htm only returns a 403 error messsage.

Sorry for the 403 error....
It seems there were too much people trying to access that host so sometimes it was too busy. But I had post a alternative page in our translation forum for the translators to use. That page can't be viewed outside China.
BTW, just now I visited www.opalstudio.net/video/dcc.htm, and it was OK again.

I guess this page is maintained by a different person... and the main site webmaster doesn't want to give out the login/pass to anyone.

pretty logical to me.. but this solution isn't very good if the page is down so often.

It is interesting to see Doom9 using the Chinese word for "Traditional Chinese" as the icon for it's traditional Chinese site, while using the flag of the Poeple's Republic of China as the icon for it's simplified Chinese site.

I am wondering if there is any politics in this differentiation. Simplified Chinese is the official language of not only the PRC, but also the Republic of Singapore (besides English). Traditional Chinese is still official in Hongkong and Macao, but otherwise only in Taiwan (Republic of China, ROC).

What I'm trying to say is, if the ROC flag was avoided not for polical reasons, but because people may not easily recognize it as a symbol for Traditional Chinese, we can as well replace the PRC flag with the chinese word for "Simplified Chinese", too.

The ROC flag was not used to avoid the whole "one or two Chinas" discussion. The Traditional Chinese mirror also has special permission to not use the PRC flag but a two character sequence for Simplified Chinese as to not step on anybody's feelings. And if all the translation offers I've had in recent weeks really turn into a site we'll soon have to work with a dropdown list because it's getting crowded in the top frame.

This mirror server locates in Cernet, and
it works from now on for 2 purposes:
1. let visiters in cernet update their speed to visit
our GB chinese site;
2. in case of the gb.doom9.org goes down,
users can browse this server temporary.
