For simplicity's sake (it's hard to master TMPGEnc!) I bought the Nero MPEG2 plugin, to make SVCDs out of (mainly) AVIs files.
But whatever the source file, the result is always a 820 MB file or so, which Nero then refuses to burn, because there is not enough space on my blank disc.
I proceed as follows: In Nero I select SVCD format, then the video standard (PAL) then the encoding bitrate ("try to fit to disc size: 74 min"; I even tried 70 min, with the same result), I check some minor options about title formats, etc, and ultimately choose the write method (Track-at-once, although I'm not sure about the difference with Disc-at-once).
It always results in a file apparently too large to be burnt, regardless of the size of the input file: I tried with a 200MB AVI as well as with a 695MB AVI, output file is always around 820MB.
Can you help me understand what's wrong?
