Hi Zuggy,
first all, thanks for continuing with subrip development!

Now, some ideas for further development:

1.- conversion text to image
I am producing SVCDs and some times I am able to find subs in textual
format that are not in my owned DVD sample. Currently it seems that
DVD2SVCD 1.1.1 is implementing that somehow, but I make the SVCDs
sometimes in a manual way, so I would need a separate utility. I have not been able to find it. So, .srt to vobsub style .bmps and so on
would be nice.

2.- conversion text to text
There are some separate utilities from one text format to other ...
but not a single utility able to make all needed conversions.

3.- subs "rippack", able to rip a somehow "standardized" subs package
for a DVD ... best if it works without ripping first the full DVD to disk

Well, for 1) and 2) there should already be the knowhow, all the
format knowledge is already there ...

Thanks in advance, you know, we users always asking for more ...
Regards,

DCK21<-HAL

PS: I emailed you to tvzuggy but it bounced several times.

1. There is very good program for this purpose - MaestroSBT.
2. All needed conversions - what do you mean?
3. In current time, there is indexing of vob files for next use, so the 2nd "passes" are quicker.

I am not sure what he meant by text to text. But something that can convert ALL UPPER CASE(closed caption) to normal case would be nice.

@Zuggy

so many time searching for it ... so many unsucessfull forums
searches ...

from Doom9 download software:

MaestroSBT - Converts subtitles from SSA scripts to formats readable by DVD Maestro, Scenarist,I-Author and submux. Renders the bitmaps.

I have been always searching srt + vob to sub ...

Thanks again,

Will try maestroSBT, is there any web page? any guide?

I sencond that. It is very useful for convert 2 DVD disks (flipper)
into one DVD-R with DVDMaestro.

Well......I quote myself :D because I think It's a good feature.

In second part, I would like to ask a new request for the next Subrip release : USF format for output files. I don't know if zuggy has the time for develop this feature but It will be a good thing. ;)

Here's the specs about USF : http://usf.corecodec.org/ .We can find some avantages, features and examples in this link. In addition,
U96 has creating a good editor interface for this Subtitles Format. http://loggia.zzcom.net/naminerd/U96/
So.....why not include this USF format in Subrip directly ???

Suggestion for Next Version of SubRip:

- Change the framerate of subs in any format (in a time correction way). I can see a combo with some options of framerate, but don't know what they are there for. The framerate of SubRip format, for example, can not be changed (At least, I don't know how).

Thks.

"Subrip is as nice program".

A new proposal :
Rip all subtitles of a DVD in one move (for Scenarist)

New thing:

Put new subtitles on a DVD.. one click dvd subtitles authoring.
"Choose new subtitles..."put them on dvd".
The program will strip streams, add the subtitle, copy the correct colour for subs, and put everything back to order.
I thing there is already something like this, is called submux-dvd... but is for linux platform, i think!!!!

SubRip is really nice. Great job.
My proposal for future releases:

srt to idx/sub convertion.

:D Or even Srt to Sup. Dont hit me :scared: , that exist already, I know. But all that in one program... dreaming.

Just a thought.
It's too late, better I go to bed, before ...

FYI, Subtitle Workshop can convert open and convert scripts to from over 30 different types, invluding SSA, Scenarist, and Maestro. It's been a lifesaver for me, so if you're looking for an all in one conversion with tons of features, I reccomend that.
