View Full Version : DIVX to SVCD

I have attempted to convert two divx 3.11 files into svcds and they both cameout with weird resolution 7xx X 5xx as opposed to the usual 480x480. I check the box to convert divx3 to 4 on occasion and not on the other. I have no clue as to what could be wrong. I've done xvid to svcd on many occasions and this problem never presented itself. Any help and pointers as to what I could be doing wrong would be much appreciated.

Please post your log file.

Are you sure you didn't check the resize to something different?

sounds like you accidentally clicked the button to convert to dvd format which is 720x576 (PAL).

Check the advanced settings of CCE. Make sure DVD compliant is NOT checked.
If you cannot see it then change the DVD2SVCD level to advanced on the misc tab.

Now...this is interesting.

BicubicResize(480,412,0.33,0.33)
AddBorders(0,82,0,82)

If based on those numbers it should came out at normal PAL ratio, which is good. But, you said it came out as 768x576, which is impossible. I'm missing something here?

How did you find out the ratio after dvd2svcd is completed? Program you used?

I just played it in media player and checked out the properties, why is it coming out in pal anyway? I need ntsc and I get ntsc all the other times except with divx, I dont touch anything. I think the program has it out for me.

markrb

Don't use Media Player. It just plain sucks.
You are getting PAL because the frame rate is a PAL frame rate.
DVD2SVCD detects the frame rate and from that decides if it's NTSC or PAL.

What should I do in order to change it to ntsc?

hoozdapimp
6th February 2003, 06:45
if you want ntsc your framerate must be 23.97fps and the resolution must be 480x480...right now you have a PAL video which is 25fps and 480x576. if you want to convert it you must do the following:
1) demux your current file.
2) frameserve your video file (m2v)file in either TMPGEnc or CCE and use the following lines:

BicubicResize(480,480,0,0) and
AssumeFPS(23.97)

3) convert your audio to 23.97 using besweet.
4) remux your new audio and video files together

if this seems hard, you might consider redoing the whole conversion in dvd2svcd and make sure your output is set for ntsc.

or read the Q+A. You really should as your question is answered there. It is no easy thing and it does not always work.

Whenever I do PAL video I leave the framrate the same and just burn the mpg(not the bin/cue in this case) using Nero's SVCD template and keep it at NTSC. It plays fine on all my DVD players, but I cannot assure you it will work with yours. The video is a bit off, but not real bad.
