I forgot: In the case that anyone wonders about what kind of server cdfreaks is using: No, it could not handle this; it entirely broke down and had to be shut down for some hours in order to get it back to normal operation...I wonder how the Doom9 server would react to this amount of guests...

The smart people that run the server have set a maximum number of users. If you see server busy then the server is over that max. It serves two purposes. The first is to keep the speed at some sort of respectable level and the second is so the server is not overloaded.
