I have trolled the boards for hours now. I have found that many people have problems with AC3 files turning up too low in terms of the volume.
Could someone please, once and for all, give me a solution to adjust the gain/amplitude/volume/ whatever of my file so I dont have to turn my home stereo amp to 75 percent to get a suitable volume??????

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ac3filter
install this and adjust the EQ and master gain in the config, works great for me

That program is useful only for playback from your computer.
I need a program to *permanently* amplify the volume of the AC3 stream that will be encoded onto my DVD and played in my set-top DVD player.

but the ac3 stream is the exact same volume on my dvd as it is when I demux it, so use bewseet, ac3machine or headache, or the famous answer, search some more

I have searched until my eyeballs bleed on VBR MP3 (the audio stream of the original .avi).
I tried AC3Machine with multiple settings and it appeared to do absolutely nothing to the file. I have tried BeSweet (essentially same as AC3Machine) and have absolutely no luck.

Hey there,
I think firstly we are quite confused as to what u want to do
If you want to make an MP3 in Besweet u can normalise the mp3 to make the sound considerably louder.
as for AC3 sound for permanently recording it to DVD with a louder volume there must be settings in AC3 machine for normalizing or on your dvd software for DRC try setting it to loud instead of quite or normal ie in WINDVD or Powerdvd
anyway
hope any of this helps
