View Full Version : BlockBuster filter not AVS 2.5b-compliant

SansGrip's BlockBuster filter (found at: http://www.jungleweb.net/~sansgrip/avisynth/ ) is still not AviSynth 2.50 beta compatible.
Anyone have any idea if and when a new version will be ready?

For the above reason I switched to using dctfilter instead. I like the result even more than with Blockbuster. Perhaps you might try that.

DCTFilter and BlockBuster aren't the same thing.
One increase the compressibility of the source ( DCTFilter ) with discarding high frequencies ( which may lead to even more macroblock at encoding, since some details went away ) , while the other decrease it ( except perhaps in its blur mode ) in order to get rid of macroblock at encoding.

Actually Blockbuster helps getting rid of DCT blocks by adding details (=noise) to blocks that are regarded as low-detail (user settings).

I know they are not the same (process) but I read here that both can help decrease DCT blocks. I checked visually and on my widescreen tv the result looks just as good if not better. This is subjective, of course.
I am using them when I create a KVCD - currently using the new templates by kwag, some of which reduce these blocks all by themselves (especially KVCDx3).

:-))) really ... what's that?
i guess an avs2.5 compliant stuff. if so, would u recompile NoMoSmooth 0.1a too? that's something i really miss in avs2.5.
i hope sansgrip wouldn't mind this tampering but he/she(?) seems to be outta sight :-(((
thx for bb2.5

I totally agree with what yaz has pointed out in his post. Especially NoMoSmooth does not deserve its current state of oblivion! SansGrip, where are you man? ;)
@cruncher,
That's quite a surprise, what you have attached there! ;)
@yaz,
You have been outta-sight for a while too! ;)

yep ... & it seems to be stabilizing :-(((
- i'm pretty busy at work ... deadlines crossing all over ...
- i'm pretty busy at encoding ... my lazy friends(?) burden me with tremendous amount of transcoding. most of them like nightmares (good old vhs encd to divx3, pls, do something with it, say, a perfect lookin svcd)
anyway, as if u weren't as frequent as usual :-)
the bests

Just put it up somewhere temporarily, and I'm sure WarpE will put it on the plugin page ASAP.
