View Full Version : xvid playing in preview problem

This only happens with xvid, not divx5. At first I blamed mpeg2dec3, but it only occurs in YV12, when xvid provides the preview.
Has anyone noticed this?

I had something like this with 2 XVID.
They were in YV12, but if I use "SwapUV" the color was even more wrong.
And it was not the whole film.. just parts of it. Some parts of the film there's something like "pixel water falling" too.
And I didn't find a way to change it..
So it's really special, beccause those 2 XviD are the only 2 that are in YV12 and didn't need "SwapUV()" when using "AviSource" .
And of course it's not a "decoder" problem.. Beccause I try trought the Decoder of Nic, the one of uManiac, ffdshow-alpha, Avisynth throught XviD ,and Avisynth throught DivX 5
( but I .. mhh.. "found" those 2 XviD ;) . So I don't know how they have been made. The only thing that I know, is that there's no B-frame nor GMC in it).

Is the problem the doubled fields?
Do you have "DirectDraw accelleration" turned on in vdub?

I don't see any option for Direct Draw Acceleration in VirtualDubMod

Options->Enable DirectDraw acceleration

The problem only exists when I preview input only on an avs file serving YV12 using xvid as the decompressor without DirectDraw acceleration. It doesn't affect the encode at all, only the input preview window is affected. I can't encode using xvid either; the video flicker constantly on playback.

Most likely be a bug in the Xvid YV12 -> RGB routines.

I don't have a good comeback for that, except to go back to my first problem, that I thought it was caused by mpeg2dec3. I was comparing it to mpeg2dec for 2.5. Then I realized that the real variable was whether I was in YV12.
