View Full Version : Any special treatment for subs if I use Forced Film in DVD2AVI ?

Well, I guess title says it all.

I was working with an NTSC 29.970 fps movie that was FILM 95%, so I had to choose Forced Film in DVD2AVI. The output .d2v file is now 23.976 fps and I was wondering if I have to treat the subtitles differently because of the change in framerate of the movie (I use SubRip and OCD to create .srt files).

BTW, if I treat the subs as I normally do, they seem to appear a bit later than they should be.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It would really depend on the method of ripping subtitles you choose.

VOB sub is based on a time code rather than a frame code, so it wouldn't matter.
Subrip OCR method, is ususally set upon the time code as well, so it wouldn't matter. I haven't tried all formats for text subtitles, but most are timecoded. So, usually no, but some subtitles use frame codes to insert the text--which won't work.

I hope this helps. Sometime, VOB sub doesn't timecode correctly, so I use Subrip, but VOB sub usually works really well.

Though to be on the safe side you might wanna make sure 23,976 fps is selected in Subrip.

Yes, that's what I also thought, that's why I have already selected the 23,976 fps option in SubRip for this movie.

Thanks all the same. :)
