I've recently encoded a movie called Ring 2, which has english embedded subtitles (there where no subtitle files on the dvd)

The problem is, whoever put the subtitles on is an IDIOT  because they used white subs on a movie which has A LOT of white background.

I'm wondering if I can change the color of them in some tricky way or else download new subs for it and put them over the top of the old ones. I still have the .vobs for the movie.

(i've had a bit of a search to try and find the subs to download but couldn't find them, can anyone tell me what's a good sub site that may have them?)

Thanks

You can of course DL new subs and play them over the old ones. But you would've to choose exactly the same font/size/position etc. If you are able to do this, you could re-encode the movie overlapping the old subs.I would consider this a rather hard task, but maybe it's possible. There is no way to remove subs which are encoded inthe movie though...
