i have some questions about backing up dvd-9s to 4.7 gig discs. 1) What kind of hardware is required, memory, hard drive, cpu and os? 2) Which would be the easier method of doing this, I want to keep the dvd as close to the original as possible? I have scenarist and maestro but not sure which guide to follow. 4)What kind of dvd discs should i buy to ensure compatability?

I don't know how much help i can be since i am also new to this, but i have just sucessfully burned my first DVD. I believe in AMD Athelon CPU'S, (i have 1700+), with 512DDR, on XP Home. I didn't have Scenarist or Maestro but used CCE, with VobEdit, IfoEdit, DVD2AVI, DVDDecrypter, ImgTools, ChapterExtractor, VirtualDub, VFAPI; (although i am told that AviSynth works faster & is better, downloaded it but haven't used it yet) and DoItFast4U which executes pulldown.exe on d2v with ease. Printed all the guides from Doom9, which without there constant knowledge and support none of us would have a clue. As for the media type, from what i have read it seems that the best is Verbatum,(hopefully i spelled that correctly), their disc's seem to be more reliable on a multitude of various standalone's, from what i have read they cost about $3 to $4 apiece. Well sorry to ramble on and hope that this is of some help.

DVDMaestro is a much easier program to use, but the best easiest method to follow is trilights guide on his site (look at his sig).
