I orginally posted this at VCDHelp but recieved no replies so I re-posted it here. Hope someone can enlighten me.....cheers....

If I encode a CVD or SVCD with CCE 2.66 Demo, when I play it on my Pioneer DV333 standalone player, I lose audio if I fast forward or reverse through the CVD and play from the FF or reverse point. The only way to restore it is to replay the CVD from the begining.

I encode the audio sperately with Tmpgenc and multiplex it with Tmpgenc.

What's weird is the same CVDs will FF or reverse fine in my Norcent DP300. Also any CVD or SVCD encoded with Tmpgenc (video & audio) will NOT have this problem in my Pioneer....

Any thoughts .....

My thoughts;
I assume you're using Nero to burn the disc. Don't do that !! It gives the exact problems you mention on many DVDPlayers.
Use VCDImager / VCDEasy to create an image file and eventually use Nero or CDRWin to burn that image. (Though VCDEasy can do the burning itself also) This way you get working SVCD's.

Another problem might be that the blocksize is wrong, 2048 is standard for CCE, while (S)VCD requires 2324. You can fix that problem with i.e. VCDGear.
But I think you have the Nero problem.

Yes I do use Nero to burn my CVD's and SVCD's. Will VCDImager / VCDEasy work with CVD's as that is what I am concentrating on now. Also is VCDImager / VCDEasy the same software or two different applications.

Again thanks...

VCDEasy and VCDImager are infact the same software though only different Interfaces. VCDImager is easier to use, but VCDEasy has a whole lot of extra options. Personally I prefer VCDEasy.

It should be able to burn CVD, though might give an error message that it's not supported in PAL/NTSC....

I've been told some DVD players have this issue if the `Close all GOPs` option isn't checked in CCE.

Also, some DVD players need a firmware update (although I've never done it), to fix this issue.

I've sometime read that BBMpeg is better at multiplexing audio and video than TMPG (although I've never tested TMPG vs. BBMpeg.) This is just stuff I remember reading in other forums over the last few weeks.

Sorry, I also forgot. My brother had the same issue with his Philips. It is fine unless he uses fast forward, reverse, or skips to a chapter point in the SVCD.

Possible work around?
However, after skipping around, he presses pause for a second and then presses play, and it's fine from the pause point.

Mars-L,

Thanks muchly for your response. But my CVDs and SVCDs that are encoded with Tmpgenc are also burned with Nero. These Tmpgenc encoded cd-rs do not have this problem.

Cheers
