Well, at the risk of getting told that the information had been answered before, I started a search for "Mpeg2 conversion", "Mpeg2 to DVD", etc., etc. I thought I had seen some information on my question before written by JDOBBS but my searching turned up nothing of value to my situation. This is not a question of capturing since I made the capture successfully. My project is to convert my capture to DVD for burning. So, after 2 days of searching, here is my situation...

I used Cyberlink's Power VCRII and made my MPEG2 capture. All is well in this area as I can play everything back using WMP and anything else without a problem. This is my first capturing project and since I only have experience with ripping DVD's and the post processing involved, I thought I would just apply the same methods and get the same good results. Unfortunately, it is not happening. Here is my process...

1. Capture using Power VCRII as MPEG2 file
2. Use DVD2AVI 1.76 to demux audio & video and create D2V file
I used the demux all files settings and the demux audio/video settings on 2 different attempts
3. Used Avisynth on D2V file for encoding to AVI
4. Ran pulldown with no settings against file
5. Imported media and audio file into Maestro for muxing

Now, on different attempts Maestro has recognized the video file and the audio file but never the video and audio file at the same time. On the times Maestro did not recognize the audio file (MPEG2 Audio according to DVD2AVI) I used Softencode to convert the avi file to PCM or AC3. When this succeeded, I then tried to import the files again and this time Maestro would not recognize the video file. This is frustrating to say the least.

I am obviously missing a step somewhere and that is why I have made several (read many) attempts and getting a different set of results and a new set of problems.

Any help or re-direction to an already posted thread would help. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

DVD spec is MPEG2. Not AVI. Therefore, you shouldn't have to go through all those steps. Try to set up your capture program to capture in DVD format from the start, (48000 hz, 16 bit sound, and video at 720x480 or 352x480 --- mpeg2, of course) and then you won't have to bother with all the other stuff. I know ATI's software can do it, but I've never used your stuff. After capturing, simply demux the audio and video to an mpeg2 video stream, and a PCM wave (or convert to ac3), then import them to Maestro and it should work great. If you capture at 29.97, no pulldown is required. If you capture at 23.98fps, you'll have to use the pulldown afterwards.

The guides tell many ways to get captured video(if you can't capture right to dvd format), regardless of format, into dvd spec.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response Mike. I will give it a go this evening and see if I can make this thing work for me. You mentioned some "guides", would this be the capturing guides or what? If it's the capturing guides, no need to respond unles you know of a specifc one I can use. thanks once again. I'll report back on my progress.

Regards...
