View Full Version : Problem when muxing subtitles in OGM...

Hello!
I've a strange problem when I try to Mux subtitles files in OGM.
I use OggMux (the latest ver from SourceForge) and the OggDS (and subtitles) filters.
If I mux only one video stream (DivX or XViD) and several audio files no problem: every player I tried was able to play the OGM. When I mux a subtitles file I wasn't able to find a player which can play the resulting OGM: BSPlayer (the latest or the previous ver) simply crashes, MV2Player doesn't start playing, ZoomPlayer tryes to play it but I can see the words in blinking...
What can I do?
Thanks!

Does it work with windows media player 6.4?? Try it, WMP 6.4 should be in program files\windows media player\mplayer2.exe. If it works the ogm file is good and the problem will be fixed with the next release of Tobias filters.
Don´t know if the ogm file should be demuxed and muxed again with the new versión.

Hello!
I've a strange problem when opening it with WMP... it works but my mouse pointer becomes a strange green square. After some seconds it returns arrow-style...

Try to install the vobsub, and choose "always load" in its configuration windows ( general tab ). Then try to playback the movie with zoomplayer. Does it vobsub instead of the ogg subtitles filter ? Does it work ?

If it works, what was the resolution of your encode ?

Hello
I tryed... but I can't see the subtitles:
when I run ZoomP and load my movie in the Language menu I can see DirectVobSub: Show subtitles (checked) and Subtitle 65535 (checked) and OggSplitter: Video0 (checked), English audio (checked) and English subtitles (checked).

Well, I didn't see you answer when I posted...

Strange, the pointer thing. But more stranger the fact that WMP6.4 works and ZP not. May I ask some questions about your system ?

* DirectX : 8.1 or 9
* Grachic card : ?
* Drivers : up to date ?
* OS : ?
* Do you use FFDShow or XViD and DivX5 for playback ?

Hello
DX8.1
nVidia GeForce 4MX 440 with the latest detonator from nVidia
Windows XP Professional with SP1 installed
I use XViD.
Thanks!

PS: Now WMP6.4 doesn't work... I can't undestand... I only see video blinking and some strange "letters" on the top of the window

Did you ever tried FFDShow ? If not, give it a try, this filter is a must for playing all kind of mpeg-4 video. You will find it here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow). I had some troubles to install the last build, but some older ( especially the build 20021113 ) worked perfectly for me. It interacts with the sub filters in a different way ( not the same output colorspace if think ), so perhaps it could solve your problem.

Moreover, with Vobsub, when you check the "english subtitles', you have to wait a moment in order to see them. Parsing into the file speed up the process. Perhaps you didn't wait enough when you tried it.

Another check : is your subtitle file a valid srt file ? Could you try with other srt ?

Hello!
Ok, thanks! I'll try that file as soon as possible.
Meanwhile I can tell you that, if I open SRT file with any player - example BSPlayer - instead of muxing it in the ogm it works perfectly.
I tryed with other SRT files but nothing changes...

Hello

Thanks!

A suggestion: Open the .ogm file you created in VirtualDubMOD and extract the .srt file. Then open it in notepad, does it look ok?

Make sure you get the latest version of VirtualDubMOD (it's an exe only that you'll have to copy to the latest "real" release), I think it's from the 17th January. If you use the previous version the subtitle file will always be demuxed wrong.

Edit: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=65889 You'll need VirtualDubMod_1_4_13_1.zip and VirtualDubMod_170103.zip, I don't know about those others files it says are needed to run VDM, perhaps you'll need them, perhaps not.

Hello!
Just downloaded VBMod and the needed DLLs... the demuxed SRT file is perfect: in NotePad I can see all the dialogues.
Just a question: the new ver or VDMod doesn't allow me to see audio tracks comments...

Guess it's not a problem with the muxing then...

Huh? Not exactly sure what you mean (since VDM can show the comments in several different places), but I haven't had any problems with the audio comments.

Hello
In the Ogg menu "Audio comments" are grey. With OggMux I can insert comments for audio tracks.
I made another try with GraphEdit.
My graph is:

FILE -> OggSplitter

OggSplitter (Audio1) -> Vorbis Decoder -> DirectSound Device

OggSplitter(Video0) -> XViD Decoder -> DirectVobSub(Xform IN) -> Video Render

OggSplitter(Subtitle 65535) -> DirectVobSub(Input) -> Video Render

but I can't see them again :-(
thanks!

For the ogg menu, it is normal that "audio comment" is grey. If you want to add ogg stream, or subtitles, you have to add them with ogm -> show input, and here you choose "add". To add comments, you select a stream and click on "comment".

The "audio comment" allows to comment an audio stream which is in the avi, so if you don't have audio stream inside, it stays gray.

Then, for the tags with graphedit, it's normal that you don't see them.

Now, another try to solve your problem ( I don't think it will work, but who knows ? ) : mux avi + ogg + subs with vdubmod. Does it work ? Else, what is your encode resolution ( it may have a role in the problem ) ?

Hello!
Well... it worked :-)
This is what I did: first of all removed Ogg Subtitles DS filter... than remuxed the file using VDub (the video is 592x460 XViD format)... well BSPlayer still crashes but... who cares? when I can run ZoomPlayer and see my file perfectly.
Just a strange think (maybe normal?): in ZoomPlayer - Language I can see under DirectVobSub Show subtitles (checked) and a sub track with the same name of my file (checked) and the second track called "subtitle 65535" (not checked). If I check this subtitles disappears.
And even if, under OggSplitter, is checked Subtitles Off I can see them :-)
Thanks!

At last :)

For the last problems you have, it's because VobSub messes with OggDS, whereas oggsubtitledsf doesn't. But the later can't play your file, if I understand well ? If it can't, I think this is due to the resolution you used ( 592 is only mod16, and I believe the filter needs mod32 or even mod64 to work flawlessly ). Else, well, I'm just talking nonsense...

Hello!
I can play my muxed file... what about "mode16"? I use GKnot + AviSinth + VDub to compress video track but I don't know the meaning of "modeXX" so I let the suggested parameters in GK.
Thanks again!

Mod16 only means that your horizontal resolution is divisible by 16. I had problems with oggsubtitledsf and horizontal resolutions not divisible by 64, but you don't seem to, so nothing to worry about.

To confirm:
Since I used the latest filters from tobias the Ogg Subtitles DS filter never worked for me,too.
I had the same green square instead the the pointer. There's no difference if I use(d) OggMux or the latest VDubMod(of course with avisynthlexer and needles ;) )
my .srt subs looks fine,too
I tried MPC, ZP, WMP 6.4,BSPlayer(not the latest version ;) )but despite, I never saw subs.
Most AVIs , which I muxed in the Ogg file container are divisible by 32, but the same bad result appeared.

But every Ogg file which I have, work well if I use DirectVobSub(and Ogg Subtitles DS are removed). No problems!
So I think it's really a bug in the Ogg Subtitles DS from tobias.

In use:
0.9.9.5 OggDSF
always latest ffdshow filter
Win XP Pro
DX 8.1
DivX5.02
nVidia GeForce 2MX 200 with not the latest detonator from nVidia

Hello!
@FileWalker: sounds the same thing happened to me... but now BSPlayer still crashes when I try to open my OGM (2 audio + 1 sub), while ZoomPlayer works fine. Do you notice the same problem?
Thanks!

It's aknown problem with the last version of BSPlayer.
Look at thisthread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42807) and read the explanation from Manao.
