View Full Version : TMPGEnc and automatic judging field order

Hi all,

I'm using TMPGEnc now for a while (version 2.59) and I frameserve from DVDx 2.0

I want to create a SVCD.

When I set all my option OK in DVDx and I hit the 'encode'-button the 'fake' AVI is created that's used by TMPG to frameserve. After generation of the AVI-file TMPGEnc is started

When I now use the project wizard in TMPGENC, i have to indicate which is the video-source and the audio-source. When I thus indicate the just-created AVI-file, TMPGEnc starts 'judging field order'.

However, as I use frameserving, this takes an enormous amount of time as it passes through almost the whole video (many many hours before it stops 'judging field order')!!! What basically happens is that TMPGEnc asks DVDx to encode about 80% of the video to determine correct field order (through the AVI-file) and you all know that encoding a video (especially using frameserving) takes many many hours to complete.
Needless to say that I don't want many hours of 'judging'!

After judging field order stops, you have to encode the video, this takes again many many hours (20 or more).

Besides, I know the correct field order! (B first)

Why do I use the project wizard then? To determine which framerate I can use to fit the encoded video on TWO CD-R's... (in screen 5 of the wizard). This possibility is not available in TMPGEnc except in the project wizard as far as I know...

Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
e.g. using project wizard and finding some way of avoiding that TMPGEnc does the 'judging field order' automatically.
e.g. it's possible that determining the correct framerate in order to fit the encoded video on two CD-R's, is also available in TMPGENC outside of the wizard...
etc.

thanks a lot in advance for your help!
