ok i want to know if this is possible and if so what FAQ do I read to do this

I have these anime dvd's w/ two different audios (english and Jap) and w/ two different sets of subtitles (english and jap)

the dvd's are only about 2.9 gigs each so i want to compress two dvd's to one w/o the english audio and subtitles

what i want to do is create a top menu that loads up and says

DVD 1 - episodes 1 - 4
DVD 2 - episodes 5 - 8

when you click on dvd 1 it will go into the pre-made menu's/ chapters from that original DVD so I don't have to do any butchering of the beautiful menu's and chapters

now to the problem
it appears after looking through the vob files it appears that both audio tracks are stuck on the same vob file. I know how to get rid of the audio

now w/o losing any of the menu's from the original dvd how do I get rid of the english audio and subtitles so I can fit it on one dvd ?

I know how to rip the video and the audio and rejoin it into a file but how to I change that back to a VOB file while maintaining the original menu system ?

You are going to have to reauthor the discs since you want a new main menu and you want to combine 2 dvds. At best you could rip the menus or take screen shots of them and re-create them in Maestro or Scenerist. For the incoding I suggest starting out with the guide "Getting the Best out of CCE" http://www.doom9.org/mpg/cce-advanced.htm

Check out the guide sections on Ripping, Encoding and Authoring.

I agree; you're going to have to fully reauthor them yourself, with screenshots, etc.

If all you want is to have the two main video streams on one disc, it's easy with maestro or scenarist. However, to keep all original navigation is not, to my knowledge, possible.

It is possible albeit quite time consuming and tiresome.

There is a couple of other threads about 2 movies in a dvdr and episodes in a dvdr that cover lot of this stuff. Try searching.

As for the technics involved u will need a completly-authoring skill that u have to develop. Personally I would recommend Maestro. It is the easiest of the two to master, or get the hands on at start.

The guides on Meastro, ifoedit, demuxing, recompressing will be invaluable.
