View Full Version : How do you change the timing on a .srt?

Hi, I have ripped the subs from a Gundam Wing episode and they are very long and hard to rip compared to other animes I've done (takes about 1 hour of typing to get through a episode and .sums don't seem to help, then you have to go through and put spaces where they need to be on the .srt because theyarelikethis on almost every word :\) but what happened to me is I got the .srt all done and corrected the spacing on word without noticing that the subs are about 4 mins delayed... Is there any program that can help me to reset all the timings on a .srt? Because I am planning on making a .ogm out of this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nealhon

I think Vobsub will to the trick.
Open up Subresync and change the timing.

hmm, I might be overlooking it, but when I load the .srt into VobSub, and go to edit, I do not see any time changing options.

Make sure you use "Subresync".
This is from the top of my head but I think I'm right.

why don't u use the time shift button at SubRip itself?

The Edge: Yes, I thats what I tried. If you could take a look at it and see exactly what to do, I'd appreciate it, because I don't see anything that would change the timing.
Oddyseus: I cannot load the .srt back into SubRip...

this is cause u didn't save as a srt file in the 1st place. I had it a while ago and from there on I am saving always in the requested and in srt formats.
Subadjust 156 opens a lot of files including srt and ssa and has an option of adjusting the time offset

I'm in work at the moment so I cant't doublecheck. :mad:
You add the 4min to the first entry and then you can apply this change to the remaining entries.
Another way, maybe, is if you plan on using VirtualDubMod when adding the srt you can add a delay. Add a 4min here.
Give oddyseus's idea a shot.

What do you mean I didn't save it as .srt in the first place? I loaded the .ifo into SubRip and when I was done, I saved it as .srt. I tried subadjust as well. I tried every option I could, but I still couldn't get it to readjust the timing.

if u had saved it as a srt file u could open it back without any problem in subrip. By having a srt extension a file doesn't mean that it is a srt one. Try to view it in notepad and post your results, better still post it here and we can check it out as what is it.

How do you open the .srt file back up into SubRip? I've only done it by loading the .sum file on other animes, but like I said earlier, on this one, that doesn't work. Here is some of the .srt when I open it in notepad (starting from the very top)
1
00:04:27,512 --> 00:04:30,916
Gundam Wing
Just wild beat communication
2
00:04:30,916 --> 00:04:34,408
Gundam Wing
Standing in the lashing rain
3
00:04:34,620 --> 00:04:38,056
I want to show my passionate,
undying feelings
4
00:04:38,223 --> 00:04:43,217
With my entire body tonight!
5
00:04:49,301 --> 00:04:56,104
I hold onto your wet shoulders
to give you warmth and comfort
6
00:04:56,308 --> 00:05:03,441
What are those shivering
fingertips wandering after?
7
00:05:04,116 --> 00:05:10,612
I want to protect the honest
look in your eye
8
00:05:11,423 --> 00:05:18,192
Believing in the love that'll
change sorrow to strength
9
00:05:18,297 --> 00:05:21,789
Just wild beat communication
10
00:05:21,967 --> 00:05:24,527
Standing in the lashing rain
The 1st one is supposed to start at 13 seconds.

Sorry for the delay but u know how things can go the other way sudenly.
I don't seem to locate your problem. I just copied the text u supplied pasted it in a txt file that I named test.srt and used subrip to open it. All went smoothly and it opened up smoothly. I corrected the timecode by subtracting 4 mins of them and finally exported it as a son file and imported it to Maestro. No prob at all.
Do u click the txt window at subrip and use the open command?

Another thing that just thought. Why u r not using the option to rip in bmps instead of ocr?
