I was wondering, is there anyway that I can I trim an ogm file? I have some tv shows that was captured in windows media pc format that was converted with Graph edit into an ogm. However, I want to trim the commercials out of it. Is there anyway with vdubmod that I can trim the commericals? I tried some trimming last night but unfortunately there was no audio present.
Any help is much appreciated.

I think OGG File Cutter allows you to cut *.ogm files.
Download here: http://www.vorbis.nu/pub/OggCut.exe.
Please give feedback if it works for you.

Hmmm. I am not using the ogm contain er so I have no idea if it`s possible to trim ogm files in VirtualDubMod. Maybe some others know?
I think I will try ogm soon, then I will find out. ;)

VirtualDubMod 1.4.13 (build 14328) works fine at splitting OGM files. Just load the file, select beginning and ending points, put video to direct stream copy (and also audio if it isn't already so) and save as OGM (under OGM menu). I've tested it with a file containing 2 audio and subtitles streams and it splitted them all at once.
Hope it works for you.

But after I split them to cut out the commercials, then how do I get them back together?

So you don't want to split a file to fit in several discs, as I incorrectly understood at first, but to get rid of some commercials which are placed "inside" the file. In this case you should mark the sections you want to get rid of and delete them with de "Del" key or the Edit/Delete Selection command. Afterwards, save the file with the OGM/Save As OGM command (remember, audio and video in direct stream copy mode) and you're done.

when I tried editing using direct stream copy mode, no audio is present when done. do i have to demux the ogm first? Any chance you can give a quick step by step guide using vdmod to do this?

OK here we go.
1. File/Open Video File
2. Go to the beginning of the first unwanted part. Hit [Home].
3. Go to the end of the first unwanted part. Hit [End].
4. Hit [Del] to remove the selected section.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for every unwanted section.
6. Video/Direct Stream Copy. The same for AVI/Audio (the default is Direct Stream Copy but no harm in checking).
7. OGM/Save As OGM.
Doing so I end up with a OGM file with all its stuff (video, audio and subtitles) and no sync problems.
BTW, the file I've used for testing contains Divx 5.02 video, 2 Ogg Vorbis audio streams and 2 SubRip subtitles streams. I'm not able to tell you if this steps would work with different kinds of audio because I've got no such files.

Thanks that worked perfect. You rule.
One other question. I have a few captures that were done with Divx 1 pass quality based and are quite large. I want to re-encode to a lower bitrate so I can get a smaller file size. how would i do that in vdmod? If you dont mind aother qucik guide I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh if your capturing I suggest you cut commercials before you re-encode to a lower bitrate. You should capture to an MJPEG codec so you don't lose quality and then encode them to divx. You can use the new gknot to load the avi file that your captured and then do a 2 pass encoding as usual.

The capturing is doen with the new windows media pc. unfortunately, it captures to ms-dvr files and the only way to convert them is to use graph edit. but unfortunately, graph edit wont let me edit out the commercials so i am stuck doing it this way.

Well, I'm not acquainted with the capturing issues, but if the file you want to recompress is a Divx one, I would follow Hiro2k's suggestion and have GKnot to do the job.
