When encoding divx files which can be of any screen-size under the sun it appears, how (in TMPGEnc) do I maintain the same aspect ratio even if it means having to put up with black borders top and bottom. The example here is 51st State - comes up as 576*240 (2.21:1). When I encode in TMPGEnc, it forces it to 720*576 and makes everything on-screen look kind of squashed. If I try to load anything into ReMPEG, it throws an error when scanning the PCM file.

Are you using a PAL DVD template?
Load TMPGEnc and go to file/new.
cancel the wizard.
Load your avi and make sure 1:1 is the option selected.
Do that manually.
Also, might be an idea to convert the sound to WAV first.
I'm not a regualr user of TMPGEnc so this is from memory.
