if you have Goldwave:
drag & drop your vcd file in Goldwave, wait for it to finish deflashing, go to edit\channel then select which channel your want (left or right), then save as wav.
or you could always convert your dat -> mpg with vcdgear, de-multiplex with tmpgenc, convert your mp2 -> wav, and then load it to your favorite sound editting program, and then figure out what to do next.

If you have a non-karaoke vcd/svcd/dvd with mixed music&voice(in each channel), but do want to get one channel without voice - then tell me and I'll say how.

by using a "Vocal Remover"(software or hardware) you can create a Karoke sound track out of a regular stereo music track with voice. For example(software): YoGen Vocal Remover 1.07 (http://www.yogen.com/vr107/vr107.html). There is also many freeware solutions, plz search it in google/yahoo. The hardware solutions are mostly expensive, but you can "do it yourself" and just mix the two stereo channel 50%-50% into one channel without the main voice(the background voice will remain). The software solution do exactly the same thing.
This way you can get the most effective results if your sources are captured digitally(CD-rip to wave, or DVB/DVD).
