Okay, I have got a few SVCD mpeg files that I want to convert, to both DIVX and DVD. Now, I can get the files to Divx but the aspect ratio isn't right, even though I change it to EVERY type in the options menu (of Flaskmpeg Pro and XMPEG). The original SVCD plays back from left to right of the screen, so that it fills it perfectly, but the encoded file doesn't fit right from left to right, there are big borders each side. When I convert the DIVX file to DVD all I get is a picture surrounded by black borders, left to right of it. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Any ideas ?

Also I can't seem to convert SVCD to DVD even when up-sampling the audio. I have tried the Doom guides but it doesn't seem to work for me. Also they seem to only concentrate on free software, I have much paid for software that I am sure can be a lot easier. Does anyone know of any paid for software that can easily convert files without syncing problems etc etc ? I don't mind doing it the hard way, but I have tried that and something is going wrong.

Many thanks for any help possible.

Jon

I have screen grabbed the sync problem that I am talking about, click the URL below to see the pic. That is the audio and video from the SVCD file WITHOUT me converting it, it plays fine in a player, but encoding programs always seem to show that it is out of sync. The audio and the video should be the same length in the pic, but as you can see the audio is way ahead (too long for the Doom guide suggestion of moving it to sync it manually). How can the audio be so much longer then the video when it plays fine and in sync in a player ? Confusing stuff. This has happened to ALL SVCDs that I have.

Oh and I blacked out the video picture on the screenshot for obvious reasons. But the top one is meant to be the video time line, and the bottom one obviously the audio one.

I am sorry to tell you that there is no easy way or a commercial software to solve your problem in one step. The commercial software have no interest to solve such problem(a/v-asyncron of web download files, copyright issue). You MUST take the hard way. For example:

Current movie "Harry Potter and the camber of secrets"
there are a russian dvd-rip with excellent picture quality but I dont understand Russian. So I have to download extra the screener vcd-version of English and German(which are very bad in picture quality, of cause) and mux them together to get a engl./germ. version with great quality. The vcd-version has a delay of 36520ms and a audio speed-up of 0.208%(CD1), the cds have diff. cut positions. So I've to convert all mp2 to wave, syncron in VDub, time adjust and montage in WaveLab(commercial software!). Very tedious. But no another way.
