Hi,

I'm trying to convert mpeg -> ogm. I hope it's not just my fault, and I don't see something obvious, or didn't search long enough. And I also hope this is the right forum, even though it's in the divx section?

My input file has 426 MB, and contains:
Video: MPEG 1 Video at 1150 Kbps, 352 x 240 (4/3) at 29.97 fps
Audio: MPEG 1 Layer II at 224Kbps

My aim is:
approx. 230 MB
Video: Xvid
Audio: ogg/vorbis at nom. Bitrate 64-80 Kbps

I've done similar conversions several times with VirtualDub and other tools. Selected "No Audio", compressed video to 2-pass Xvid, extracted audio to wav, then used CoolEdit to stretch the wav file to the correct length to avoid async, then used oggmachine on wav, then muxed the files via OggMux.

With VirtualDubMod, is there any way to do it all within one program? I know of only one way to encode ogg/vorbis in VirtualDubMod, and that is with the ogg ACMs installed and enabled. But that way I can't really control the bitrate of the resulting ogg/vorbis file, and also I don't have the slightest idea what the available ogg/vorbis modes mean (mode1, mode1+, mode2, ...).

Oh, and while I'm at it: Did anyone ever experience a strange a/v async with xvid and vorbis in ogm? "Strange" meaning it varies during playback. At one moment it's there, next it isn't. Also the amount of the async, when it is there, varies. Had that effect only with one file, and while playing in ZoomPlayer, other players not yet tested. -- Tried it in BsPlayer and WMP now, same results.

Thanks in advance,
Eisprinz

Dont use Vorbis.ACM ... you have to export your audio file to a PCM WAV file and use any Vorbis encoder ( recommended : BeSweet or OggMachine ) to convert to Ogg Vorbis ..
