I have read the posts so far. I have tried a few different things to get a good write from the dru500a. Here's what I have tried:

1. Nero 5.5.9.17 using DVD video wizard Result is a DVD that works in
some players, not xbox.
2. Nero 5.5.9.17 using blank udf set to 1.02 create directories by hand. Result is a dvd that is only readable on the sony drive.
3. Created an image using imgtool 0.99.3, burned image with same version of nero result was a totally unreadable disc.
4. Wanted to try disc image in ifoedit .95 Results in a missing dll error

Primodvd does not recognize the sony. Have not tried gear yet.

This is a simple dvd-9 structure that was ripped and stripped (movie only, verified on the hd using dvd2avi). Then prepared using ifoedit .95.

Any suggestions on what could be going wrong here? Main aim is to get a good readable dvd, especially on the xbox.

Media: I have tried princo 2.0 dvd-r, sony dvd +rw and sony 2.0 dvd-r

Try upgrading your Nero.
I have been using 5.5.10.0 without a problem.

Georgio,

Here is the software I use for serveral tasks:

Backing up DVD-5 discs: DVD Decrypter

For backing up a DVD-9 disc, I use DVD2DVD-R. In this program you can choose the main movie, the wanted audio language and subtitle. (Normally I'm not interested in menus and additional features of a movie) If the main movie still does not fit the program reencodes the movie. I burn the created VOB & IFO files in the VIDEO_TS directory with "RecordNow DX" program made by Veritas, which you can download for free if you've got a Sony DRU500A.

For making DVDs from my edited Home movies I use Ulead Moviefactory (still version 1). Again I burn the created VOB & IFO files in the VIDEO_TS directory with "RecordNow DX".

The newest version of Nero, 5.5.10 supports Xbox, so claims Ahead. Previously there was no support.

Just a bit of update. I used gear with a dvd+rw. It works! I will try the update to nero, but I had heard that it was buggy. Appreciate the input.

Is it confirmed that Nero 10 works fine with xbox playback? Did they change to udf 1.02? Any ideas? Thanks.

Why not use RecordNow DX that you get for free with the drive (you can download the update for RecordNow to RecordNow DX for free). All my movies burnt with it work perfectly in my xbox.

Friley,

do you create a data udf dvd and folders manually in Record Now dx? If you could post the exact method that you use, it would be appreciated. My first experiences with record now were not good.

thanks
