Ive been making SVCD's for a while and yes my DVD player plays Non Standard and Standard SVCD's & VCD's. This is the first time this has ever happened. I got a movie and using the tool Decompressor found in Avi 2 VCD I decompressed the audio so the file went from 705 to almost 2 gigs. I heard somewhere that TMPGEnc doesn't take compressed audio too good soo Ive been decompressing ever since. The first part of the movie plays perfect and is very good quality but it's the second part Im having trouble with. The movie came out good the only problem is that the movie plays good on PC without problems but the movie tends to jerk and freeze for a second very annoying.
I use the SVCD Film Template unlock it and change the Audio settings.
48 KHZ, Joint Stereo, 192 Bitrate, I do this so I can squeeze extra video..I deleted the Mpeg - 2 but I still have the AVI saved. Any suggestions or help please tell me..

I was searching and I found out that the problem MIGHT be because I lowered the audio settings...SOOOO..I changed the audio settings to normal and cut out the credits so I could squeeze in more Video. In addition just to be on the safe side I used Virtual Dub Mod to Sync the Audio and Video for the origianl AVI that I still have saved. Still the same problem..sound is good, video is good, jerkiness still their..now I am going to try to find out what is the maximum bitrate my DVD player can handle because I think that could be the problem because I am encoding the 39 Minute movie at a bitrate of 2556 which is above normal.
If anyone has any suggestions please tell me so. It will be very helpful.

After looking around it is not the bitrate problem, the video or audio problem. It was the Media CD problem. I was using a company called SpinX. I don't know why but I burned part one of the movie on the same media and it worked fine..I burned part 2 on the same media it didn't work good...I really couldn't find any problem with the Mpeg soo I decided to reburn it on a CD RW instead and it worked PERFECTLY..no jerkiness..no freezing or syncing problems..I have noo clue as to WHY in the hell it didn't work before. I burned the CD RW at 4X just to be safe and I think that might also be a problem...now I will burn on the same media but on a lower speed to see how if it will work..I will post more info if it doesn't work..if anyone know what the problem could be or is..please explain to me..

DVD players tend to be "finicky" about which brands they will play.
You may want to pay a visit to vcdhelp.com for comments and reviews on your dvd player.
With my standalone, it has no problems playing files from "Mr. Platinum" discs or Verbatim's (very good quality imo) but I have another no-name spindle, and the player will not play even 1 cd from that no-name spindle.

I know what your saying BUT the first part of the movie plays perfect...I burned the second part of the movie on the same media doesn't work good..I burned at 8X using Nero. Then I checked to see if their might be something wrong with the Mpeg, no their is nothing wrong. Then I decided to reburn it on a Memorax CD RW at 4X again using Nero and it worked Perfect. So I thought maybe I was burning the CD too fast so I burned the movie on the same media at 4X using Nero..still the same problem..THEN I borrowed a Blank SONY CD from my friend..that's right SONY<-- burned the movie at 4X just to be on the safe side..and the movie is STILL jerky..then I erased the CD RW which is a Memorax used nero to burn it at 4X it worked perfect...NOW ! I will try it on a Verbatim CD and a Memorax one to see which one it will play on..this is very frustrating because this had never happened before..

Well after busting my ass the main problem wasn't the media it was the program. I was using Nero 5.5 before and then used VCDEasy, really good program and it worked. I really have no clue as to why it wouldn't burn good with Nero, still confused, nontheless the problem is solved and I guess this topic should be deleted or locked cuz
PROBLEM SOLVED !:D

Ok...still having weird problems burning here is the summary of events and problems I've had soo far...
I had been using Nero 5.5+ for a while now to burn my SVCD's..worked fine until last week when I burned an SVCD and came out all jerky even though their is NOTHING wrong with the Mpeg..Ive made sure..burned the SVCD on a CD-RW using Nero and surprisingly It worked PERFECT !. Tried lowering the speed and burning the SVCD on a regular Media using Nero..still same Jerky problem...Decided to switch to VCDEasy because of the compliments I've heard about it soo far..burned the First CD Perfect..really liked it until now...It scans the Mpeg, makes a CD Image file...but when it is about to Write the DATA it fails..Buffer Under Run ?...took BetaMax's advice and lowered the Writing speed changed the Drivers to Default from Generic-mmc..the CD burned good but the problem was that it made it into a a VCD1.1 even though I selected SVCD..?..Unistalled VCDEasy just to see if Nero would work..last hope..still same jerky problem...Burned the movie on a CD-RW worked perfect...burned it on the Regular media at 4X...no change..jerkiness.and Yes the media is fine and my DVD Player has been playing the same media on the previous movies fine...so..Im really stuck right now because I have no Idea what to do cuz Im confused and irritated..
So someone if you have another program for me to try of some help to solving this problem..please do so because it will be very much appreciated..

I guess the problem is not the (burning)software, very likely is your hardware/OS. Go to your friends and test on their machines. Or Go direct to supermarket and buy a new computer.

Just reformatted my entire Hardrive and converted the movie again...just found out that my 3 year old PC is not equiped to play high Quality AVI's or even DivX's..sucks...I installed the entire VCD Easy package..the complete one and it says that "CDRAO Burning is disabled" ?? does that mean I have to install the ASPI drivers..if so please tell me where to download the latest ASPI Drivers for VCDEasy..:D

Ok reformatted my entire hardrive, set everything up,Installed VCD Easy 1.1.4 the latest version, installed the ASPI Drivers that I didn't have..the program does everything it is supossed to UNTIL it starts to write the DATA where it fails..the error says the cause for this problem is usually a bad ASPI Driver or CDRDAO driver on of these 2..is their anyway to fix this..cuz I really need to burn these Mpeg's off..

your suggestion was really not helpful, I don't know if your being sarcastic or not about me buying a new machine, cuz Im not apparently rich like you because If I was I wouldn't be having this problem.
Nothing is wrong with my 3 Year Old Compaq, 450MHZ Processing, Windoews 98 Second Edition Machine, it runs perfectly just like the day I bought it. I found another solution for the burning CDRDAO problem. I created an Image of the Mpeg2 using VCDEasy, and then burned it using NERO. Oh Well !
For the SVCD Jerkiness, I added little intros and logos in the beginning of the movie just to make it look nice, I've noticed that If I just let the movie play the main Mpeg or file will play Jerky, if I skip over the intros the movie will play flawlessly, this is a really weird problem because I've never had this before..but anyway..found a solution for now..[Content] :D

first I must say I'm not rich. But I have a job as computer hardware professionals. So I can test the SVCD-playback on diff. computers. Here is my experience:
AMD K6-2 500MHz and below: very bad in SVCD(full screen) and some of DivX(with high bitrate).
PentiumII 400MHz: 50% of my test SVCDs with jerkness, DivX .avi OK.
PentiumIII 450/500MHz: 95% and above of SVCDs are OK(without jerkness).
Very important: the DMA-Support of your CD/DVD-Rom drive must be enabled/activated!!! Otherwise the CPU must be 1.0GHz and over(to ensure smooth playback in all situration).
You have already reported that you've solved the problem successful but later said there was still jerkness. Now you said there is a workaround and I hope really that your fate will not repeat...

You are right. Mpeg2's DON'T look good on slow PC's, or that don't have a good graphics card or some other updated hardware. I can't play high quality AVI's on my PC, that's why I decided to make SVCD's instead, and watch it on my Bigscreen. I actually tried it on my feiends 2.53GHZ Intel Pentium, and it worked great. Tried it on my other friends slow PC..Blaaaaa. ! The jerkiness that I still recieve is due to the Intro tracks I add to the SVCD just for fun. IF I skip over the intros then the movie plays fine, but when I don't the main movie plays jerky, that's the weird problem I'm STILL having, other then that everything seems to work fine..:D
