Hi there, I have a Sony jukebox 301 disc DVD player, which plays double sided discs by hitting the "FLIP" button. I have about 150 burned single sided DVD-Rs, recorded on TDK media, but I recently bought PrimeDisc double sided media with the intentions of being able to squeeze alot more than 300 movies on my DVD players. However, I recently started playing some of these discs and now realize most of the discs freeze up, pixilate, or simply makes the player stop, towards the end of the discs. Is this a common problem with double sided recordables, Primedisc, or did I simply get a bad batch? Why does this always seem to happen towards the end of the disc, about 1hr 45 min into the disc? I always thought Primedisc was great, but apparently I hadn't been checking my recorded discs all the way through. Anyone else experienced this? What a way to realize your DVD library is a bust! :(

I have one customer who has experienced similar problems when burning to prime discs at 2x speed. However I cannot comfirm what generation discs they are.

I would double-check the media with ADVDinfo to see that it's really RitekG3 media. If not, that might be the problem. Also, can you re-read the disc in the Pioneer? The ones that have the problem at the end?

I have a bunch that are over 1.5 hours with no problems. So have many others on this board, so I don't think its a manufacturer issue, maybe a bad batch?

I know my customers problem arose when writing at 2x. At 1x speed they work fine.

I've never had issues with single sided Primedisc or Ritek G03's, but I did have some pixellate and freezing issues with a double sided Primedisc and I wrote to it in 1x mode.

My friend's Apex would freeze/skip on those parts, while my Sony 530D would show weird multicolored squares for a few seconds and then continue on ok.

So I no longer trust double sided primediscs.
