Hi I did some searching on the subject but didn't really find any answers. Here is my problem: I converted a dvd to an xsvcd with dvd2svcd. The movie was 121 min and 51 sec long and I chose to put it on 4 cd's. In the bitrate window my settings were 4 cd's for movies between 121 and 163 and the bitrate it gave was 3379-2447. I have my bitrates set as such, 5500 max, 2000 min, and 3500 max avg. BBMpeg created 3 cd's at 796 and 1 cd at 306. I wanted 4 cd's at 796 megs each so I'm not really sure what happened. Here is my log. Btw I ran out of disk space -lol- so I had to do the cutting my self with the mpv and m2v file that dvd2svcd created and also the finished mpg after i multiplexed it was 2.63 gigs...Thanks for any
help

To fill four CDs, you'll have to raise your max. average bitrate to say, 5000.

just to add a little to what RB said, if CCE didn't "think" it would need to use 4 full cd's worth it won't do it...sometimes, you know, adding extra bits to the bitrate will produce worse video quality, hence the reason why cce "shorted" you.

Well, it's not CCE that limits the bitrate but DVD2SVCD. DVD2SVCD calculates the average bitrate according to the movie length and number of CDs specified. Then if that bitrate exceeds the max. average bitrate specified on the Bitrate tab, bitrate is cut to that limit. Then the bitrate is handed over to CCE via the ECL file. But that's all described in the Q&A.

@RB:
He wrote, that he had set max average bitrate to 3500. According to his log the used average bitrate was 3339, so in this case it wasn´t limited by the max average bitrate.

@floslap:
I think that such a high bitrate for SVCDs is madness. Or are you processing some kind of mini DVD? What about trying the standard settings?

thanks for the input guys and winxi im kind of a quality freak and i find that it makes a difference with the way i encode. my main goal is for the encode to look just like a dvd, and with the settings i use i cant tell the difference between dvd and xsvcd.
