general dvd-9 splitting question

forgive my ignorance but i tried to split a 6GB movie to 2 dvdrs using DVDX Copy and IFOEdit's feature and neither worked.... but i don't understand why i simply can split it into 2 discs but putting some vob's in one dir and others in another so they each folder adds up to no more than 4GB and then create new IFOs using IFOedit "create ifos" feature....why wouldn't this work? or would it?

i dont mean to be rude but why not reencode all extras and the movie and fit it on 1 disc..u will have to learn that one day anyway..why waste 2 discs..imo u are thinking about this whole thing the wrong way..and when u reencode the movie and extras u wont see a difference in the movie but maybe a little bit in the extras...id recommend visiting the ifoedit guides and CCE guides as well...good luck

well, when you reencode, you lose quality (even if it's very little) and i'm kinda anal like that....i don't mind wasting 2 dvdr's on a movie if it's preserved perfectly...and yes, i have been learning how to reencode just for my own amuzement :)
