View Full Version : Bad sound from MiniDV

I am using DVD2SVCD for quite a while now, great tool collection.

Since everything was so easy with DVD conversion, I bought a MiniDV Camcorder.

My first tries have the problem, that there is something wrong with audio conversion. The extracted_audio_1.wav file sounds normal when played with winamp. It is PCM 48KHZ 16 Bit Stereo. After conversion, the encoded_audio_1.mp2 files sounds somehow "metallic", a bit artificial. Robot-Voices. Too many high frequencies. I am not sure, if my english translation is good here (Deutsch: Sound klingt metallisch, Stimmen klingen wie bei einem Roboter, zuviele Höhen).

(1) Is it possible, the bad original sound material can cause this?
(2) Can I use different settings?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I just found out, that the reason is a frame rate of 25.001 in my .avi file from the video cam:

"The original video framerate of 25.001 is not supported. The framerate will be adjusted!"

Question is now:

Can the adjustment be improved, so the the sound is more natural?

Can I do anything against the unusual video framerate in my .avi material? --> Sony TRV-25E, Material imported via Adobe Premiere 6.0

Thanks again for any suggestions....

Marc
