I just burned xXx movie at 2X and the picture kinda looks a little fuzzy and not clear like it should be. Wondered if anyone who burns with a Pioneer 104 using Verbatim dvd-r(2x) ever has problems like this? thanks

I ordered some Verbatims, so if you wait a few days I"ll try them out at 2X on my A-103 and let you know if they work or not.

I've heard mixed reviews about Verbatim disks..I thought they would be great media since they're not generic etc, but then some people have complained about them.

when i burn at 1x everything is fine. Not had one problem yet and i have burned alot of PS2 games and DVD movies. xXx was the first movie i burned at 2x. Just didnt seem clear and sharp as other dvd movies i burned at 1x. Do you use any cheaper media? Im thinking about buying some of the Riteks.

They have, as most discs, a FE problem, i.e. if you have a player with poor refocusing times, they will skip and hang. Not even the lowest error and jitter rates will help then.

But I have written at least 60 or 70 of them during the last 13 months (besides Maxell, a few Princo and Ritek), and none was a coaster.

Not being clear/sharp is hardly caused by lower write quality (just due to the way MPEG2 works). You could retry and burn another copy at 1x or try different discs, but I doubt it will change anything.

Is there any real difference between burning at 1x and 2x other than the actually burn speeds/time?

if the disc isn't rated for 2x, then often times the burn will be a coaster if you try 2x speed

i use Verbatim which is rated at 2x.
