View Full Version : Maestro-Something I'm missing in Menus

Have a Happy New Year!!
(please don't laugh. I know I am missing the obvious here)
My question:
When I duplicate menus with connections or without, I get a working project, except the time indicator on my Philips 743 doesn't work (shows dashes) while time shows OK on Power DVD and Cyberhome 212, 512.
While doing so, sometimes I cannot navigate to chapters from the remote (e.g. 19, enter).Everything else works ok.
I know I am being vague. I could go to detail on the project, but i think it would be useless. The person that knows the answer surely can identify the symptoms.
(If only I had a manual...)
Any hint appreciated.

It only took me about 3 days of searching various combinations of words to find the "obvious solution" : DON'T put anything in the Next - Previous tabs.
Anyway, I quote from an otherwise excellent and detailed guide from Down Under:
.....
Right click on the top left title on the Connections Page and choose “Show advanced sources.” This now includes several other functions that you can program. Notice that the Previous and next keys are programmable. These keys on the DVD controller as you are all aware allow you to go from chapter to chapter within a move. Programming the keys to return to the menu from whence it came ensures that you will automatically do so. Image 16 shows a movie track with the details of programmed chapter points and the programmed keys.
.....
Image 16 is a pic showing movie connection tabs:
Previous: Menu1:Button 2
Next: Menu1: Button 2
.....
"Next" and "Previous" correspond to pressing Skip Foward and Skip Backwards on your DVD players remote control. These keys make the DVD Movie jump one chapter point forward or backwards by default. Again this is done automatically, you do not have to make these connections.
.....
I guess my English is not that good. I did not undestand that
"you do not have to make these connections" REALLY means (quote from another old posting here that showed me the light): "NEVER use NEXT & PREVIOUS. First it's absolutely unecessary, second NO Time Display, NO Fast Forward/Backwarrd Skip etc.
Set only the END ACTION right."
so, in Previous, sometimes I used to put Menu1, to be used only for Chapter 1. BIG mistake :)
Another case of "slightly" misleading guide? The really bad thing is that this case was really hard to detect for a "newbie - learner" like me in Maestro. I have found other guides floating around, which when used with subtitles, the result is WAY off!!(numerous postings on the subject). But these are easy to detect. (?)
Anyway, I see now that my Q, although justified on my part, was NOT for the advanced forum. Sorry.... :(
But I learn everyday! :) Now, on to movie 34!
